Full-Time Program Leader
Location: Pineridge Club, Calgary
12 month contract, with possibility of extension

Boys and Girls Clubs of Calgary is a leading provider of quality programs to children and youth, with a $20 million dollar operating budget, that supports the healthy physical, educational and social development for 20,000 young people and their families each year.
 
Our Pineridge Club is a safe place that helps build a positive sense of self through supportive adult mentors and engaging activities that challenge and enrich the mind, body and spirit of each member. Club programs focus on building life skills, and social and emotional competencies.
 
As a Program Leader with Pineridge Club, a typical day might include:
  • Ensuring the safety and well-being of all children, youth and families in the program, including group and/or individual behaviour management and support
  • Creating programs that will reflect cultural diversity in the community and include cultural awareness components
  • Creating programs that will involve children/youth in the development of activities
  • Creating and maintaining a positive, supportive, strength based and rewarding work environment.
  • Providing quality, outcome based programs, services and opportunities for children, youth, and families that utilize the principles of HIGH FIVE and NRCYS
  • Acknowledging and actively engaging with the children/youth as appropriate and are available to children at all times during programming
  • Supporting continuous community research on best practices and resources to ensure paramount outcomes for youth and families 
  • Assisting children/youth in developing and practicing problem solving, conflict resolution and communication skills that support relationships and life-long learning and success.
  • Engaging children/youth in active, meaningful interactions and allowing children to finish speaking without being interrupted

You Have:
  • A degree or diploma or currently enrolled, or have a minimum of 2 years experience working with children, youth and families. 
  • Strong program planning, organizational and time management skills.
  • Interpersonal communication skills with children, youth and adults from diverse backgrounds and an understanding and awareness of diversity issues.
  • Basic knowledge of developmental needs of children and youth.
  • Good understanding and ability to appropriately apply behaviour management skills with individuals and in group settings.
  • The ability to be an independent worker but also a strong team member.
  • Class 4 Drivers license with acceptable drivers abstract within 3 months of employment
  • Current First Aid/CPR certification is also required. 
  • A Criminal Record Check with vulnerable sector search and cleared Intervention Record Check*
*If the checks are older than 6 months, successful applicants will begin this process during new hire paperwork.
