Foster Care Child Support Worker (Summer Student Positon) 
Location: Foster Care, Calgary
8 week Contract

Boys and Girls Clubs of Calgary is a leading provider of quality programs to children and youth, with a $20 million dollar operating budget, that supports the healthy physical, educational and social development for 20,000 young people and their families each year.
Children and youth between birth and 17 years of age, who are unable to live with their identified natural supports are offered foster care placements through the Calgary Region Child and Family Services. 
As a Child Support Worker with Foster Care, a typical day might include:
  • Working a schedule to complement that of the program- this must include evening and weekend shift work.
  • Time spent caring for and supervising multiple children ages 0-17
  • Engaging children in positive, trauma informed and fun activities
  • Planning and leading play based activities and recreational outings
  • Weekly report writing and evaluations
  • Working collaboratively with the teams to ensure the overall success of the programs and demonstrates the ability to contribute to and foster the development of a positive, supportive, and rewarding work environment.
  • Attending all staff meetings
  • Ensuring the safety and well-being of all children, youth and families in the program
  • Acknowledging and actively engaging with the children/youth as appropriate and are available to children at all times during programming

You Have:
  • Experience working with children and youth
  • Degree/diploma in Human Services or enrolled in such program
  • Basic knowledge of developmental needs of children and youth.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and engagement skills
  • Must have strong planning, organizing, problem-solving and leadership skills
  • Must be able to work independently and effectively in a team environment
  • Knowledge of Trauma Informed Practice is considered an asset.
  • Passion for recreation and arts
  • Current Standard First Aid/Basic Rescue CPR certificate
  • Starting/returning to full time studies in Fall 2018
  • A Criminal Record Check with vulnerable sector search and Child Intervention Record Check
