Full-Time, 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.


$45 - $50K, + benefits, depending on your combination of training, experience and certifications. Three weeks of vacation to start, paid leaves, and after a waiting period, a robust benefits plan and matching defined contribution pension plan.

An exciting opportunity exists for a Payroll & Benefit Administrator with Atira Women's Resource Society, Atira Property Management Inc. and Atira Development Society (Collectively known as Atira). Atira is an award-winning organization known for its inclusionary hiring practices. Reporting to the Executive Director, Finance & Administration, the Payroll & Benefits Administrator works with the Coordinators, Payroll & Benefits Administration providing excellent internal customer service. We offer a challenging and rewarding work environment for women passionate about ending violence against women and children.



To join our team, you are required to have an up-to-date Payroll Compliance Practitioner certification with the Canadian Payroll Association and a minimum of three years of payroll experience, with preference to applicants who have managed a payroll of 250 or more. Your use of Excel must be at an intermediate level. Assets include experience administering benefits programs, using time and attendance payroll software (we use Payworks), making entries in accounting software (we use two systems: Yardi and ACCPAC), and performing payroll in a union environment.


Primary Accountabilities:

  • Perform all tasks related to payroll for all of Atira’s entities, both a union and non-union staff
  • Administer benefits programs
  • Share the responsibility for processing payroll for the 600+ staff,
  • Create reports and ROEs
  • Perform monthly reconciliations, administer benefits and the pension plan.

Skills & Abilities:

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to be great with people
  • Excellent computer skills
  • Ability to prioritize, multi-task and complete assignments under strict deadlines
  • Excellent attention to detail and problem solving skills
  • Comfortable working independently, as well as collaboratively, in a team environment


Additional Requisites:
