AASAS is seeking a passionate and results-oriented individual to fill the position of Collaborative Community Response Coordinator. This position will report to the Chief Executive Officer of AASAS and focus on increasing access to service for survivors and developing and maintaining a specialized, collaborative community response to sexual violence in communities throughout Alberta. This position is most suited for an individual with expertise in sexual assault service delivery, coaching and supervision, community development, facilitation, planning, collaboration and coordination. The location of this position is Calgary and travel throughout the province is a requirement.

 

The preferred candidate will oversee and work with:

  • Designated staff in 5 under-served areas of Alberta to develop local community leadership, sexual violence crisis intervention, counselling as well as public education and awareness;
  • Local community stakeholders in 2 under-served areas of Alberta to identify service needs and capacity; foster collaboration; and develop a plan of action to address sexual violence;
  • Provincial hubs in Edmonton and Calgary, to develop and operate one provincial phone/text/chat line with the aim of increasing access for survivors to specialized sexual violence services;
  • AASAS evaluation contractor to identify and record outcome measures and indicators of success.

 

The preferred candidate requires:

  • Significant experience with sexual assault service delivery and the AASAS 7 core services;
  • Demonstrated experience and success in community development practice with an emphasis on rural and northern communities;
  • Demonstrated facilitation and planning skills that have resulted in community stakeholder groups successfully identifying and working towards a common vision;
  • Experience developing community action plans;
  • Proven ability to develop and implement a project work plan to meet project deliverables within a designated time frame;
  • Experience working with First Nations, Metis and Inuit peoples that demonstrates respect for the rights of Indigenous peoples;
  • An in-depth understanding of anti-oppression theory and a demonstrated commitment to human rights through social change;
  • Knowledge and understanding of sexual assault and sexual abuse and its impact on individuals, families and communities;
