PAY RATE: Cook $16.65 – $17.84 per hour, Unifor Local 830 Wage Scale

RESPONSIBILITIES

 

Cook

  • Prepare meals as determined by the menu.
  • Ensure all food service functions are performed in a clean and sanitary manner according to regulatory and organizational standards
  • Assist in control of food costs and wastage; make recommendations for more efficient operations
  • Inspect food supplies and determine what quantities need to be reordered and communicate information to supervisor.

     

     

    Dietary Aide

    • Assist with meal production
    • While serving meals, ensure that all residents receive appropriate diets and portions as per their therapeutic needs
    • Clean up following meals
    • Communicate in a positive manner with residents and their families, co-workers, management, and visitors.
    • Typical shifts would be one or two 5:00pm to 8:00pm evenings, some weekend shifts

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience in quantity food preparation
  • Familiar with the use of commercial kitchen equipment
  • Works and adheres to safety policy and procedure guidelines
  • Has empathy for the residents of Hope Living.
  • College diploma (Chef or equivalent; Red seal program) is an asset
  • Safe Food Handling Certificate
  • Standing up to 3 hours maximum, walking, working in awkward positions
  • Lifting alone up to 40 lbs. or with assistance up to 160 lbs.
  • Wears personal protective equipment or clothing as required by legislation or facility policy
  • preference to individuals willing to cross-train as a Dietary Aide
