Lower Mainland Purpose Society for Youth and Families has the following position available:


Position: Youth Mental Health Support Worker

Wage: $19.50/hour

Location: Burnaby Youth Hub – 4750 Imperial St, Burnaby

Hours: 17.5/week – must be flexible to work evenings and some weekends

Start date: August 2018


The Burnaby Youth Hub, a community initiative overseen by the Lower Mainland Purpose Society, improves access to youth support by providing a unique one-stop shop of services in a safe and inclusive environment. In collaboration with a number of other agencies, the Hub functions to provide young people with the opportunity and access to a comprehensive set of resources to foster a productive future as independent, engaged members of the community.



  • Design and facilitate a variety of engaging youth programming, with a particular focus on youth mental health
  • Seek partnerships and initiatives with existing community agencies to provide diverse mental health programming for youth
  • Perform outreach to build relationships with community agencies, increase youth engagement, and promote Hub programs
  • Create engaging, youth-centred content and resources on youth development and mental health, including managing social media channels
  • Provide positive mentorship and act as a positive role model to youth, create an environment that encourages respect for self and others, promotes inclusivity, and fosters the development of healthy relationships and coping strategies



  • Post-secondary degree in a relevant field
  • Knowledge of issues faced by youth, including an understanding of youth mental health
  • Experience in supporting and engaging at-risk and marginalized youth
  • Proven experience in program development and group facilitation
  • Strong organization, time management, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Capacity to work effectively in both independent and team environments
  • Ability to work both evenings and some weekends
  • Clear understanding of and adherence to professional boundaries
  • Clear criminal records check
