Permanent Full Time (35 hours per week)

 

Options Community Services Society is seeking an applicant to provide the Ministry of Children and Family Development (MCFD) with staff to respond to family and child needs in child protection cases. Duties will vary, but services will focus on providing immediate support to families in caring for their children in high risk situations in order to prevent children from coming into care, or supporting apprehended children. Staff will use a co-operative solution focused approach and be involved in the treatment, planning and implementation for these families. This is a self scheduling position based on clients’ needs, and at times will require some weekend, evening and on-call work.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Degree in human services or relevant combination of education and experience
  • Ability to speak another language is preferred do not require to read
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Excellent problem solving skills
  • Excellent conflict resolution skills
  • Current Level 1 First Aid Certificate
  • Current, unrestricted Class 5 driver’s license
  • Have use of a reliable vehicle/clean driving record
  • No relevant criminal history

The preferred candidate will have:

  • Knowledge of human services resources in the Surrey area
  • Solution focused experience/training
  • Experience with/working understanding of BC Risk Assessment Model
  • Knowledge/experience with child protection issues
  • Verbal and written fluency in multiple languages an asset
  • Crisis Line experience an asset
