WJS Canada, is a private, CARF-accredited social services agency with programs and services in Alberta, BC and Ontario. As Regional Social Service Director, you will oversee services that are delivered through partnerships with Children’s Services, Family Supports for Children with Disabilities and other government and private funders. You will focus on delivering holistic, empowering, services, with excellence, in a seamless way. You will be responsible for our programs in communities such as: Vegreville, Bonnyville, Cold Lake, Red Deer, Slave Lake, Athabasca, Peace River, and High Level.

 

The Position

In consultation with the Chief of Client Services, you will develop and implement strategic planning activities, such as overseeing clinical/client services, setting program goals, implementing our quality strategy, supporting marketing activities and engaging in important stakeholder relationships.

 

Your position will be located out of the Edmonton Regional office or within the northern Alberta service area. Travel throughout the region, as well as to the Head Office in Maple Ridge, BC will be required.

 

In Your Role You Will

  • Foster positive relationships with senior and other government officials, funding sources, clients, and the community. Promotes the agency to local and provincial constituencies; negotiates with representatives of government, community and other agencies to promote the goals and objectives of the agency.
  • Author comprehensive quarterly reports addressing i) status of current programs and compliance with agency policy, contract terms, externally imposed standards, and legal requirements, ii) implementation/review of long-term plans, and iii) other issues related to the sector’s strategic plan.
  • Review/analyze monthly financial statements identifying present financial status, anticipated problems, financial planning and funding opportunities/alternatives.
  • Respond to the impacts of legislative changes, resources needs, etc.
  • Recruit, coach and mentor Directors and Managers and ensures compliance with established policies and objectives related to program operations; taking disciplinary action when required.
  • Ensure professional licensing and/or other accreditation requirements meet legal, regulatory and other requirements.
  • Protect the health, welfare, safety and security of persons served and staff.
  • Represent WJS Canada at conferences, meetings, functions as appropriate.

As An Ideal Candidate You Possess

  • Masters in Human Services or Business (preferred), will consider Bachelors with exceptional experience
  • Extensive, high level management experience
  • Collaborative leadership skills and ability to foster cooperative work environments.
  • Knowledge of goals, objectives and operations of major social service agencies.
  • Employee development and performance management skills.
  • Strategic and program-level planning and implementation skills.
  • Financial data analysis and interpretation.
  • Computer related applications - MS Office 365, Sharepoint, Windows, Linux platforms, videoconferencing systems; willingness to learn and adapt to new software.
