Crew Coordinator, Retail Operations


Position Type:     Full-Time, 34 hours/week (includes evenings & Saturdays)

Position Overview:

Reporting to the Retail Operations Lead, the Crew Coordinator provides day to day direction and guidance to staff and volunteer customer service representatives in accordance with work plans developed by the Retail Operations Lead. The Crew Coordinator supports the Retail Operations Lead in ensuring staff and volunteer customer service representatives have the required tools, information and resources to productively carry out their roles.


Position Deliverables/Accountabilities: Under the general direction of the Manager, Retail Operations and day-to-day leadership of the Retail Operations Lead, the incumbent:

  • Provides on-site leadership and direction to store staff, volunteers and trainees;
  • Ensures staff and volunteers working at cash have floats and support each day;
  • Ensures cash handling and transactions are completed in accordance with Agency protocols, including preparing deposits and delivering bank deposits in the absence of the Operations Lead;
  • Ensures staff and volunteers have everything they need to do their work (tools, paperwork, etc.);
  • Ensures accurate and consistent pricing and merchandising of goods and brings any concerns to Operations Lead;
  • Arranges for extra assistance as needed;
  • Responds to customer and public enquiries, by phone or in person as required or in the absence of the Operations Lead;
  • Ensures that auctions run as scheduled and all customer follow up is complete;
  • Assists with breakdown of auction materials and equipment;
  • Advises Operations Lead when supply inventory is low;
  • Acts to ensure that day to day store operations comply with required statutory and Agency Policy requirements including those under the Occupational Health and Safety Act and reports any safety concerns to the Operations Lead;
  • Maintains a respectful and supportive workplace, intervening where necessary to resolve conflict and referring more complex situations to the Operations Lead;
  • Promotes a positive Agency and Retail Operations image in the community;
  • Acts for the Operations Lead when appropriate;    

Qualification Criteria:        



  • High School Diploma

Nature of Experience Required

  • Minimum 1 year experience
  • Retail experience required
  • Cash register experience required
  • Supervisory experience preferred
  • Demonstrated skill in delivering superior customer service

Knowledge Required

  •  Familiarity with the non-profit sector an asset

Skills Required 

  • Solid ability to work with MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, E-mail)
  • Well-developed communication skills, both written and oral
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Must be able to easily and comfortably lift up to 30kg on own
  • Valid Driver’s license, reliable access to a vehicle with $1M liability insurance
