PCRS requires a regular full-time experienced inspirational leader for a remote youth and young adult addictions treatment centre in Keremeos. This leader will possess strong leadership skills and be engaged in daily hands-on collaborative efforts within a team oriented, person-centred, strengths based, harm reduction, recovery focused and hope inspiring model. 

 

Position Summary:

The successful candidate will possess a strong ability to provide vision, leadership and clinical guidance for the onsite clinical team.   We require an experienced clinician who has a multitude of experience and skills in the following areas:  leadership of a diverse team, supervision and consultation to clinical team, run clinical groups as well as one-on-one sessions with participants using evidence based modalities, ability to co-lead with an operations lead as well as report to the onsite manager; passion to work with at-risk, marginalized youth, parents and professionals, advisory groups and diverse populations.

 

This position requires a sound understanding of addictions, mental health, and trauma informed practices. In addition, the successful candidate will show expertise in Attachment Theory, Child and Adolescent Growth and Development, counselling theories such as CBT, DBT, Motivational Interviewing, Solution-Focused, Existential and Experiential Therapies. The level of knowledge will also include team building and clinical supervision.  This position will also provide direct clinical interventions with residents depending on the area of expertise (i.e. family therapy, group work, one to one caseload etc.).

 

The successful candidate will have a strong knowledge base of successful treatment practices for youth and young adults, and the ability to balance clinical methodologies with recreational and relationship based practice.

 

PRIMARY DUTIES:

    1) Leadership: (in coordination with the Residential Addiction Worker Team Leader and the Manager)

  • Ensure a trauma informed environment
  • Support the clinical direction of the program
  • Hire and coordinate the orientation for new staff
  • Provide supervision and training to counselling staff
  • Assist staff in understanding applicable Act/Regulations, policies, procedures and roles of the various Ministries.
  • Coordinate supervision meetings and assesses program performance in meeting contract outcomes.
  • Assist with personnel problems and addresses service delivery issues.
  • Delegate appropriate responsibilities and tasks to staff and provide the necessary training.
  • Provide leadership in identifying problems and problem resolution.
  • Provide leadership in program evaluation and development.
  • Leadership in on call crisis intervention (after hours attendance on evenings and weekends as required)

 

2) Scheduling and Organizing Programming:

  • Work with clinical counsellors, family counsellor, in conjunction with operations lead and manager for development of clinical programming to meet needs of participants.
  • Help organize scheduling for clinical groups, consultations, Care team meetings, etc.
  • Problems solve programming and scheduling to meet needs of staff availability.

 

3) Relationships with Participants and Fellow Staff:

  • Maintain professional working relationships with all staff
  • Seek out rapport building with all participants on an ongoing basis
  • Monitor and assists with any problematic relationship concerns between participants or staff.
  • Help run therapeutic groups using evidenced-based interventions from a strengths-based approach.
  • Hold an active case of one-on-one participants where regular weekly meetings are held.

 

4) Program Administration:

  • Work with the Manager and Residential Addiction Worker Team Leader for financial planning, management and outcome monitoring Reports directly to the Manager of Ashnola.
  • Responsible for responding to complaints and addressing concerns through identified complaint procedures.
  • Represent the Agency as delegated.
  • Understand and applies the Agency’s Policies and Procedures.
  • Assist the Ashnola Leadership Team in the administration tasks of the Agency as delegated.

 

5) Team Work:

  • Develop and fosters a strong positive team environment that enhances employee motivation and engagement.
  • Communicate effectively with co-workers and supervisors.

 

Academic and Job Experience Required:

Master’s Degree and Registered Clinical Counselling certification. Five (5) years of experience in a senior leadership position in a residential setting.

  

Basic Requirements:

  • Criminal records check including the vulnerable sector.
  • Current standard first aid certificate.
  • Tuberculosis and medical clearance.
  • Class 5 driver’s license preferred with business use insurance and $3 million liability.
  • Use of own vehicle required. (Mileage is paid).
  • Driver’s abstract.

  • Demonstrated competence in program leadership, supervision, and direct counselling.
  • Excellent time management skills; ability to balance multiple, often conflicting priorities.
  • Ability to lead in order to achieve outcomes.
  • Effective team building and mentoring skills.
  • Committed to the Agency’s mission, vision and values.
  • Strong verbal, interpersonal, presentation and written communication skills are essential.
Salary Range: $32.81 – $37.60 per hour, plus comprehensive benefits package including pension
