Community Legal Education Ontario (CLEO) is seeking a Quality assurance (QA) analyst to help develop online tools that increase access to justice. This role is part of CLEO’s work with Clinic IP, a partnership of community legal clinics. The QA analyst will also support CLEO’s work developing family law online guided pathways. The guided pathways provide public legal information and help people to complete court forms.


The QA analyst will work closely with a small project team to test and copy edit online interactive tools called A2J Guided Interviews. These interviews are created in an easy-to-use software called A2J Author. The QA analyst will also assist the project team with administrating and updating the database system solution that hosts the A2J Guided Interviews.


This is a fulltime contract employment position starting as soon as possible and concluding on March 31, 2019, with the possibility of an extension. The QA analyst will be paid an annual salary of $48,000 (benefits not provided).



The successful candidate will need to demonstrate the following:

  • excellent attention to detail
  • ability to follow instructions
  • aptitude for learning and working with new software


No prior experience with A2J Author is required or expected. Preference will be given to candidates with experiences demonstrating patience while doing repetitive tasks and basic technical abilities, working independently. Writing and/or editing experiences, and prior work with database applications will be considered an asset.



  • Review and test A2J Guided Interviews and outputs to ensure it follows a design style guide, and mock-up of the outputs.
  • Test the database system that hosts the A2J Guided Interview to identify system bugs.
  • Draft test plans for new A2J Guided Interviews working with MS Excel.
  • Test A2J Guided Interviews and outputs and note any errors or omissions
  • Propose possible solutions for simpler A2J Guided Interview and output defects.
  • Prepare test reports detailing problems and explaining proposed solutions.
  • Use the A2J Authoring tool to develop questions, following written instructions.
  • Enter contact data into the system that hosts the A2J Guided Interviews.
  • Create design flowcharts in MS PowerPoint and Visio software.
  • Post and retrieve test reports the internal project wiki.


A2J Author is a free access to justice software that supports non-lawyers to create online interview to helps low income or otherwise disadvantaged people to complete legal forms. A2J Guided Interviews are developed using an authoring tool designed for use by non-programmers. For more information about A2J Author visit www.a2jauthor.org.


CLEO is a specialty community legal clinic that develops clear, accurate and practical legal rights education and information to help people understand and exercise their legal rights. We focus on providing information to people who face barriers to accessing the justice system through print publications, online resources and legal information training. CLEO is building a collection of online guided pathways to help Ontarians address their family law problems. The guided pathways will enable people to access tailored legal information and complete court forms.


CLEO is the project manager of Clinic IP, a partnership of 17 Ontario community legal clinics to create online tools. The A2J Guided Interviews created by the project assist clinic staff, volunteers, local agencies and clients to support clinic intake, document assembly, and referrals.
