Community Legal Education Ontario (CLEO) is seeking an A2J Services Analyst to help develop online tools that increase access to justice. This role is part of CLEO’s Clinic IP, a partnership of community legal clinics. The A2J Services analyst will also support CLEO’s work developing family law online guided pathways. The guided pathways provide public legal information and help people to complete court forms.


The A2J Services Analyst will work closely with a small project team to build online interactive tools called A2J Guided Interviews. These interviews are created in an easy-to-use software called A2J Author. The A2J Services Analyst will also help administer and update the database system solution that hosts the A2J Guided Interviews.


This is a fulltime contract position starting as soon as possible and concluding on March 31, 2019, with the possibility of an extension. The A2J Service Analyst will be paid an annual salary of $50,000 (benefits not provided).




The successful candidate will need to demonstrate the following:

  • excellent writing and editing, attention to detail
  • proficiency in drafting questions using a style guide
  • aptitude for learning and working with new software


No prior experience with A2J Author is required or expected. Preference will be given to candidates with experiences demonstrating basic technical abilities, and working independently. Interviewing experience and knowledge of family law or poverty law will be considered an asset.



  • Use A2J Author software to create basic A2J Guided Interviews, drafting and ordering questions, mapping output templates, and identifying needs for supportive information
  • Analyze processes for completing forms, applying for service, and finding services or information
  • Developing interview questions that collect the information required, using interviewing best practices
  • Collaborate with a multi-disciplined team to design, program and test A2J Guided Interviews for both poverty law and family law
  • Draft clear language instructions for software programmers
  • Check A2J Guided Interviews changes, by software programmers or other members of the team, against instructions to ensure accuracy and completeness
  • Develop and execute A2J Guided Interview test scenarios to assess usability and identify errors
  • Support the development of training materials such as video, PowerPoint slides and tip sheets

A2J Author is a free access to justice software that supports non-lawyers to create online interview to help low income or otherwise disadvantaged people to complete legal forms. CLEO is a speciality community legal clinic that develops clear, accurate and practical legal rights education and information to help people understand and exercise their legal rights. We focus on providing information to people who face barriers to accessing the justice system through print publications, online resources and legal information training. CLEO is building a collection of online guided pathways to help Ontarians address their family law problems. The guided pathways will enable people to access tailored legal information and complete court forms.


CLEO is the project manager of Clinic IP, a partnership of 17 Ontario community legal clinics to create online tools. The A2J Guided Interviews created by the project assist clinic staff, volunteers, local agencies and clients to support clinic intake, document assembly, and referrals.
