A career opportunity has opened up with The Elizabeth Fry Society of Greater Vancouver (EFry).  We are a fast-growing human rights and social services not-for-profit agency serving women and girls affected by the justice system. 

 

Primary purpose:  

The Wool Project provides fair and wholesome part-time work for women affected by the justice system. Women who work in the project process raw fleeces from Lower Mainland shepherds.  As supervisor of The Wool project, you will be responsible for interviewing, hiring, training and supervising women who work in this project.  

 

 Key Duties/Accountabilities 

  • Teach washing, carding, spinning. 
  •  Interview new staff, performance management, household management (purchasing supplies, managing cleaning schedule). 
  • Maintain online presence and online store.  
  • Manage and meet production goals.   
  • Development of project as it flourishes. 
  • Communicate with the Executive Director, and the Expert Consultant, and other administrative staff at Elizabeth Fry.   

Education and Experience: 

  • Minimum 2 years work experience in human services position.   
  • Background and experience in at least one of the following fiber arts skills: Carding, spinning, weaving.  

Skills and Abilities: 

  • Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.  
  • Be a proactive, energetic team leader with the ability to work independently and in a position of leadership. 
  • Strong leadership skills, ability to facilitate training, resolve conflict, and coach others.  
  • Strong project and time management skills. 
  • Willing to provide criminal record checks including vulnerable sector and comply with the EFry policies and commitment to the mission of EFry
