Job Title: Summer Camp Coordinator

Rate of Pay: $14.25/hr
Availability Required: June 18 – August 31, 2018

Hours of Work per Week: 30 hrs/wk

*applicants must be attending Post Secondary education in the fall to be eligible for this position*

 

Driver’s Licence Required: Class 5

 

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Under the direction of the Program Manager, the Summer Camp Coordinator takes the lead on designing, implementing and facilitating overnight and day camp components of recreational programs for individuals with intellectual disabilities

• Leadership on delivering multimedia components of the program

• Ensure that goals of the Summit’s programs and ConneXions are being met at all times

• Act as a positive leader and role model appropriate social behavior to participants at all times

• Provide families, caregivers, and residential staff with up to date information on the scheduled activities and events

• Maintain a safe and healthy environment for those you support, for your co-workers and for yourself

• Maintain up to date information on participants of the program

• Report any significant/pertinent information regarding participants to the program manager and other team members

• Attend staff meetings and training as required

 

Requirements of the Position:

• We are looking for people who can facilitate, foster and encourage friendships and social opportunities/situations for participants, as well as teach and encourage the development and improvement of social skills and social behavior.

• Schedule is based on the needs of the program

• Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills with basic computer knowledge

• Ability to teach skills and work effectively with others with proven ability to make sound, independent decisions

• Knowledge of theory, principles, and practices in the field

• Must be willing to undergo a criminal record check and submit a negative Tuberculosis screening test, medical approval and provide three professional references ConneXions will cover the costs associated with the Criminal Record Check and Tuberculosis screening, Non-Violent Crisis Intervention and First Aid training

• Applicants must be returning to post-secondary full time education in September 2018
