WJS Canada is currently looking for one individual to join our Community Living Home Share team, as a Temporary, Full-Time Program Manager.

The Program:

WJS Canada serves both male and female adults with the Autism Spectrum Disorder and/or FASD, Developmental Disabilities (DD), Mental health, and mental health diagnosis in our Shared Living programs throughout British Columbia. Persons served live with the family or have their own suite at the host family’s home.

The Position and Scheduling:

The Program Manager, Community Living Home Share Programs, provides operational and administrative direction for the development, implementation and management of the program in this CARF-accredited agency. The PM implements and monitors policies and procedures related to day-to-day services to persons served and directs and coordinates the day-to-day management of program staff. S/He works directly with persons served and their families/care teams as required, and is responsible for overseeing and coordinating individual program plans. The Program Manager participates in agency decision making and is the primary liaison with the contracting body. The Community Living Home Share Program Manager may be required to carry a caseload of up to 10 persons served in shared living and/or contracted services. Responsibilities include coordinating, supporting and supervising the Quality Analysts in the Community Living Services program.


This temporary full-time position will work 40 hours per week (Monday-Friday 0900-1700), including the requirement to be “on call” during scheduled time off. There is also a requirement to participate in an on-call rotation to cover for Children in Care Program Manager. Schedule varies to meet operational needs (including coverage of leaves) and front line work will be required.


Length of temporary role will be dependent on the return of the incumbent.


This position requires frequent travel (extensive at times); requiring use of own vehicle. The primary office location is negotiable upon hiring.

As an ideal candidate you possess:

  • A degree in one of the humanities, social sciences or related field with educational preparation for the roles of manager and administrator.
  • Minimum of three years in a similar facility or program, with at least one year in a supervisory or management role.
  • Must have specific experience with financial and human resource management.
  • Certified to conduct AND SUPERVISE SAFE studies


Other Requirements:

  • A physician’s note confirming suitability, including a negative tuberculosis screening test
  • Successful candidate must sign an oath of confidentiality, a conflict of interest statement, abuse protocols, and a code of ethics statement
  • Current WCB Occupational First Aid, Level 1 and CPR certificates required.
  • Sound knowledge of Ministry of Children and Family Development and Community Living BC standards.
  • Experience with basic sign language and/or alternative communication strategies training or experience an asset.
  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s License and clean driver’s abstract with a reliable, safe vehicle (including appropriate insurance)
