Program Overview

Employment Ontario Youth Services programs are designed to help youth between the ages of 15 and 29 who face barriers to employment, achieve long-term employment, meaningful careers, and success in their future working lives. It provides access to employability and employment skills development, along with education/training, summer jobs and other work experiences.

Youth Job Connection / Youth Job Connection - Summer

Full-time / Temporary 3 month contract with possibility of renewal / Starting ASAP / Jane & Finch

 

We’re looking for someone who will:

  • Provide outreach to the local youth community as well as community partners; conduct intake, assessment and case management
  • Interview and assess clients for appropriateness of program; manage client and referring agent expectations
  • Coordinate client participation in pre-employment workshops, provide individual employment counselling, life skills coaching, and group facilitation
  • Develop materials for life skills and job readiness workshop delivery and facilitates sessions
  • Assesses clients’ abilities, skills and needs, and establishes mutually agreed upon employment action plan
  • Monitor clients’ performance with follow-up of individual plans; help with implementation of individual plan and provide feedback
  • Maintain detailed client records, entering all required information into electronic database tool, updated files and produce statistical documentation
  • Promote Employment Ontario Services for youth, ensure youth participation in referrals and service coordination, and liaise with EO teams to support placements

 

Flexible hours / evenings / weekends may be required for this position.

 

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Education, or Psychology with placement experience. International degrees must be evaluated for Canadian equivalency
  • 1-2 years of experience working with youth in a professional setting
  • Effective time management skills with experience handling a heavy case load
  • Case management experience
  • Experience providing workshop development and facilitation to a young audience
  • Demonstrated problem-solving and decision making skills
  • Demonstrated counselling and observation/report-writing skills
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills; ability to communicate with a varied client population and deal with a variety of professional and psycho / social issues
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills; ability to effectively deal with youth from different cultural and racial backgrounds and / or with special needs
  • Computer literate; the ability to learn systems used by the agency (ie. Word, Excel, Outlook, SalesForce)
  • A clear Police Vulnerable Sector check is required for this position
