We are seeking a Customized Employment Specialist to join our team at WorkBC. Reporting to the Executive Director, in collaboration with WorkBC North Shore Employment Service Centre, the Customized Employment Specialist (CES) position participates in the full continuum of support to multiple-barriered clients seeking employment in an integrated community setting. Our ideal candidate is a patient, well organized individual skilled in systematic inquiry and hands on experience in the customized employment field. The candidate is also a big-picture problem solver with a good understanding of the adult learning process and the barriers people face in their lives that affect their employment.

Hours of Work and Compensation

  • 35 hour work week, Monday – Friday with some flexibility in hours
  • $24.00 – $28.00/hour + 6% vacation
  • Extended health and dental benefits following probationary period
  • Term position until March 30, 2019 with possibility for extension

Key responsibilities include:

  • Conduct the full discovery process including a detailed client employment profile
  • Placement planning
  • Directly market program and clients to employers
  • Assist with obtaining unpaid work on behalf of clients
  • Provide on-site and off-site support to clients and employers. Teach clients critical work skills necessary to maintain work placements.
  • Report on client progress and milestones through the Integrated Case Management database
  • Maintain accurate and consistent records and work within government compliance regulations
  • Meet targets for KPM’s, billing and employment statistics

Qualifications and Experience

  • Two years experience working in Customized Employment
  • Experience working with people with multiple barriers to employment including mental health challenges and disabilities
  • A Bachelors degree in education, health or social services field (required)
  • Working knowledge of Integrated Case Management System
  • Current knowledge of employers, social service providers and North Shore Community stakeholders
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team as well as independently
  • Demonstrated knowledge of resources related to mental health and anti-oppression practice
  • Excellent inter-personal and communication skills and able to relate to a diverse range of people
  • Emergency First Aid and CPR and Criminal Record Check are conditions of employment
