Parkgate Community Services Society (PCSS) is a registered, not-for-profit charitable organization providing programs and services to our friends and neighbours at Parkgate Community Centre and satellite locations east of the Seymour River. PCSS exists to serve the community, and our team works in partnership with more than three hundred and twenty volunteers to develop and deliver responsive programming that meets community need leveraging community resources. We provide services to youth and seniors and we operate an extensive child care and family services program. With more than one hundred people on staff over the course of the year, we are a diverse and welcoming team committed to making this a great place to live, work and play. We are looking for a Community Engagement Manager who will work closely with the PCSS Senior Management Team to build, maintain, diversify and manage relationships with all members of the Parkgate community. The Community Engagement Manager will be responsible for community relations, internal and external communications, promotions, community events, web site maintenance, and social media content, to ensure our community is actively engaged in all aspects of our work and in keeping with our mission to live life better. We are looking for someone who loves community, and loves to see it thrive, and sees integrity in all systems as central to our success.

 

Job Description:

Plan and execute meaningful and purposeful engagement and relationship management with community, including staff, volunteers, society members, and community and funding partners.

 

Identify communication requirements for PCSS in collaboration with senior PCSS staff and Executive Director, identifying and compiling the organization’s communications needs including internal and external communications, marketing, promotions, community events, web site, community profile, and social media.

 

Develop and implement means to increase PCSS brand awareness and understanding by both internal and external stakeholders (partners, funders, program and service recipients, volunteers, staff and community)

 

Maintain organization’s on-line presence through website management. Liaise with senior management team on necessary revisions to the website for overall community relationship building.

 

Develop and implement a social media strategy for PCSS.

 

Coordinate with PCSS and NVRC staff all PCSS annual community events

 

Work with the ED and Board in the development of communications and fund development plans for PCSS sustainability.

 

Qualifications:

Min. 2 years relevant experience in internal and external communications, community development, community programming, and facilitation;

 

Excellent communication, planning, leadership, coaching and problem solving abilities;

 

Resilient, creative, and energetic person with a passion for community based work;

 

Strong understanding of individual and community barriers to social inclusion;

 

Commitment to ongoing learning and professional development;

 

A high school diploma and post-secondary courses in Communication, Website development, Marketing, Multi-media or a related field.

 

Previous experience with non-profit organizations and/or community development is an asset.

 

Demonstrated experience with event organization and management

 

Innovative multi-taker, able to work in fast-paced environment

 

Comprehensive understanding of MS Office suite, familiarity with cloud technology, ability to learn client management systems
