Fraserside Community Services Society invites applications for the following position:


Job Title:                       COMMUNITY SUPPORT WORKER (Part Time) 16 hrs/wk                             

Program:                       Social Housing – Peterson Place

Classification:              Standard Grid Level 10

Rate of Pay:                  $20.07 per hour and increments in accordance with the terms of the Collective Agreement



To provide support services to residents with the aim of enhancing quality of life; Work with and foster positive working relationships; Maintain accurate up-to-date knowledge of community agencies ensuring residents are referred to appropriate services; Develop Individual Service Plans with residents to promote independence and safety, and to maintain their housing; Assess eligibility of referred clients for residency; Motivate residents to utilize community rehabilitation, education, social and recreational programs; Work in collaboration with the Program Supervisor and contribute to the ongoing development and operation of the program.



  • Minimum Diploma in a related human service field and one year recent experience working with people who have co-occurring disorders (mental health needs and substance use) in a multi-unit housing setting; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
  • Experience facilitating group meetings and the various issues associated with residents living within a multi-dwelling complex
  • Knowledge of the Residential Tenancy Act and basic facilities maintenance experience desirable but not essential
  • Demonstrated ability to work with residents who engage in high risk activities using a harm reduction philosophy with a person centered approach
  • Demonstrated ability and commitment to working effectively with diverse populations
  • Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively with support networks, referral agents, and other service providers
  • Demonstrated skills in the area of planning, decision making, coaching and building positive working relationships
  • Valid First Aid/CPR and Nonviolent Crisis Intervention certificates
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and data entry are essential and familiarity with an electronic case management system is preferred
  • Successful Criminal Record Check


16 hours per week (Saturday & Sunday): 12am- 8am.  Flexibility with hours of work is required to meet client and program needs as determined by the Program Coordinator.
