ROLE STATEMENT

 

Position Title:                     Development Coordinator, Individual Giving

Department:                      Development

Reporting to:                     Deputy Director

Direct reports:                   N/A

Works With:                       Chief Development Officer (Harbourfront Centre), Director and Deputy Director (Toronto International Festival of Authors – TIFA), Head of Marketing (TIFA), the TIFA Administrative Coordinator and Development team

Type of Employment:     Full Time Permanent

 

SUMMARY OF FUNCTION

 

Working with the Deputy Director and Director, the Development Coordinator, Individual Giving plays an integral role in developing the Toronto International Festival of Authors revenue generation strategy with a focus on individual and patron giving.

 

DUTIES

 

Revenue Generation

  • Supports Patron Program and Individual Giving campaigns, including preparation of correspondence, reports, invitation lists, renewals, donations processing, proposals, meeting/call briefing notes
  • Ensures patron and individual giving activity is tracked in Tessitura in association with the Administrative Coordinator
  • Oversees direct marketing activities to acquire, renew and reactivate annual patrons and donors
  • Liaises with Director, Deputy Director to identify opportunities and develop proposals for patron events and patron programme
  • Support patron programme and execution of benefit fulfilment
  • Liaise with marketing to create various documents required for events
  • Work with Director and Deputy Director to develop patron programme

 

Stewardship

  • Nurtures relationships with patrons and major donors through regular communication and events
  • Organizes donor receptions and special events in collaboration with the Events and Marketing teams
  • Works with Marketing and Design teams to ensure appropriate patron/donor recognition in relevant communications and marketing materials
  • Develops in-depth knowledge of Toronto International Festival of Authors programs, events and audiences
  • Works Festival and weekly events as needed

SELECTION CRITERIA

 

Based on an application addressing the Essential Criteria, a current resume and, for selected candidates, a personal interview and positive reference checks, Harbourfront Centre needs to be satisfied that the applicant meets the following criteria.

 

Essential Criteria

  • Experienced fundraising professional with minimum of three (3) years’ experience
  • Polished and professional demeanor and ability to interact with prospects, donors, staff and volunteers from a variety of backgrounds and giving levels
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong editing skills
  • Outstanding interpersonal and relationship-management skills
  • Excellent organization and time management skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities simultaneously
  • Demonstrated use of tact and diplomacy, and ability to work in a cross-functional team setting
  • Excellent computer skills, including extensive experience using relational databases, Word, Excel, PowerPoint

Desirable Criteria

  • University degree
  • Experience using Tessitura database and/or other fundraising database
