Fundraising Assistant

 

Scouts Canada is seeking a Fundraising Assistant (Group Specialist, Annual Campaign) to join our Fundraising & wDevelopment team in the Calgary area on a part-time contract!

 

Passionate about making a difference in the lives of youth, you will use your fundraising experience, talent for connecting with people and exceptional communication skills to translate our work into a compelling and inspiring story. Reporting to the Annual Campaign Manager and working closely with our third party campaign contributor, regional volunteers and Scouts Canada Staff, the Group Specialist, Annual Campaign will provide support to our National fundraising program through a variety of objectives.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Mentor and train the highest potential Groups and champion Groups.
  • Promote the benefits of the sale (Return to Scouting) throughout the Scouting community
  • Assist the Annual Campaign Manager on administrative duties as determined by the council.
  • Provide support to Group fundraising efforts and activities that are being led by volunteers and advises as well as provides education opportunities that support best practices;
  • Provide input to the campaign strategic direction for growth of fundraising
  • Assist in implementing a recognition and stewardship program for the annual campaign fundraising stream; monitors, evaluates and reports on the performance of the program;
  • Recruit and work with a target number of new Groups to participate in the popcorn campaign.
  • Report regularly on opportunities and issues that are occurring in the field.

What you bring to the table: 

  • Proven effective stakeholder relationship-building skills, with the ability to be tactful, proactive, and diplomatic
  • Strong ability to engage, motivate and inspire volunteers of all levels and display superior interpersonal and communication skills (written and oral) including excellent presentation skills
  • Ability to work closely and cooperatively with others across the organization and externally
  • A natural self-starter interested in new ideas and demonstrating originality in your approach
  • Able to follow a detailed sales plan
  • Well organized and ability for follow-through
  • Able to put together a sales plan for the average leader to follow
  • A good communicator who can speak to all stakeholders; Leaders, Scouts, Parents, Committee chairs, etc.

Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary education preferably in fundraising or Non Profit related studies or equivalent working experience
  • 1-3 Years experience in Volunteer Engagement and Support capacity
  • Experience working with data analysis and providing reports based on the data
  • Knowledge or experience within Scouts Canada’s programs will be considered an asset
  • Experience in a customer relationship management, sales management or fundraising role is an asset, however relationships building skills, drive and ambition are essential.
  • Strong people and relationships building skills with the ability to adapt your approach depending on the audience.
  • Solid written/verbal communication, negotiation and presentation skills.

Other Details:

  • Part-time opportunity with an average of 20hrs per week.
  • This is a 6 Month Contract position
  • Works hours will be flexible in nature and will include evening and weekend responsibilities.
  • Travel within the local area or region of Calgary is required. Mileage allowance will be provided.
  • Must have access to your own vehicle, a valid G Driver’s License and clear drivers abstract.
  • Must have a clean Police Check and Vulnerable Sector Search
