Program Overview

As an outstanding provider of services for achieving success at school and at work, JVS Toronto helps thousands of people from all walks of life achieve their educational, economic and personal potential.  Project GOLD (Generating Opportunities for Learning Disabilities), is part of the JVS Disability Programs, is designed to help unemployed /under-employed individuals with Learning Disabilities (LD) and/or Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) to find and maintain competitive employment. 


Workforce Specialist/Job Coach, Job ID #7005

Project GOLD

Full-time / 1-Year contract with possibility of renewal / Beginning ASAP / Dufferin & Lawrence


The individual in this position will:

  • Provide job search assistance, job placement services, job coaching and job maintenance to adults with LD or ADHD
  • Facilitates workshops on job related topics such topics as; networking, employer expectations, interview skills, job search and maintenance
  • Support clients preparing for interview (modify and critique cover letters and resumes, mock interview, employer networking, arrange information interviews)
  • Carry out job development using JVS Toronto’s consultative sales model including prospecting (cold calling), networking, employer needs analysis, features/benefits, and other EOPII job development and sales techniques. Applies knowledge of employment-related issues, adult learning approaches, accommodation analysis and appropriate intervention strategies to clients and employers
  • Participate in community outreach activities to various community support providers
  • Build productive ongoing relationships with potential employers for agency programs/clients, contacting employers using random and targeted lead generation approaches for current client job placement needs, and advocating on behalf of the client
  • Develop and prepare employment and retention plans, training agreements, and associated file documentation; prepare and maintain files, statistics, reports and all documentation required to meet JVS Toronto and Ministry service standards


Qualifications & Experience:

  • You have a minimum of a community college diploma from a recognized college or university in social services and a minimum of 2 years of direct working experience with persons with disabilities in a vocational setting
  • Previous job development and sales training and experience would be an asset.
  • You possess extensive knowledge of learning disabilities and their impact on employment, as well as excellent marketing, writing and problem-solving skill
  • A Police Vulnerable Sector Check is required for this position
  • This position requires travel; access to a vehicle is an asset
