Responsibilities:          

  1. Conduct formal needs assessments with clients using various assessment tools and make referrals to specialized assessment providers as required
  2. Develop, review, revise and update action plans according to client needs
  3. Identify job coaching/mentoring needs and coordinate with mentor services as required
  4. Monitor client progress by reviewing activities and results on an agreed upon schedule
  5. Conduct one-to-one employment counseling to enhance self sufficiency and labour market attachment
  6. Support clients in accessing services as needed
  7. Support clients in the development of effective resumes, networking, accessing the hidden job market, and other job search activities, such as providing sample template resumes;  showing clients how to log on and use the available computers, advising clients which web-sites to search and registering clients for job-search related workshops
  8. Determine client need and eligibility for, and administer financial supports
  9. Ensure client activities are based on need and fall within the scope of the maximum average
  10. Communicate effectively in English both verbally and orally with service providers, funders, internal stakeholders and clients
  11. Excellent ability to facilitate career exploration, pre-employment, and job search workshops as required
  12. Ability to communicate to a broad range of clients
  13. Utilize the integrated case management system to capture client data and monitor client progress
  14. Prepare client progress notes, action plans and follow up reports in accordance with Ministry requirements
  15. Open, maintain and close client files using the integrated case management system

Qualifications & Experience:

  1. Registered Rehabilitation Professional (RRP) designation is required
  2. An undergraduate degree from a related post-secondary program (community rehabilitation, disability studies, special education, kinesiology, nursing, occupational therapy, psychology, physiotherapy, rehabilitation counselling, social work, vocational counselling) or
  3. Proven experience in employment counselling, with two years of direct experience working with clients with disabilities or the equivalent of education and experience
  4. Knowledge and proficiency of Integrated Case Management Systems (ICM) is a requirement
  5. Knowledge of relevant community resources and employment services supports
  6. Proven experience with Case Management services
  7. Creative and passionate in working with clients to enhance labour market attachment
  8. Strong interpersonal skills and capable of working with specialized populations
  9. Effective verbal and written communication skills;
  10. Commitment to providing quality service, good team player and ability to multi-task
  11. Familiar with Employment Program of BC
  12. Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  13. Proficient in the use of the Microsoft Office Suite
  14. Work on some weekends and evenings, if required.
  15. Criminal Record Check (Vulnerable Sector)
  16. Reliable vehicle insured for business use, 2 million liability and a clean drivers abstract.
  17. Willing to travel and do outreach throughout catchment area

    • Starting Points certificate
    • Employment Counseling certificate
    • Multilingual capacity an asset
    • Familiarity with assessment and counselling present and past practices, including Assessment Component of Employment Counselling (ACEC)
