Job Summary:

The Manager, Fund Development leads and implements the core philanthropic programs in keeping with VON Canada’s fund development framework. The Manager develops and builds a prospect pipeline and is responsible for generating philanthropic support from individuals, corporations, and foundations.

 Responsibilities:

  • Develops and executes a diversified annual fundraising program, with an emphasis on mid-level donors and planned giving that will operate in collaboration with the National Office.
  • Builds short-term and long-term goals and objectives for donor retention and acquisition through centralized direct response program.
  • Identifies, qualifies and cultivates prospects and donors.
  • Develops customized solicitations, stewardship and recognition plans for donors and prospects.
  • Solicits donations from individuals, corporations, and foundations.
  • Uses data management system (Raiser’s Edge) to ensure the accurate and timely recording of data and reporting fund development results.
  • Participates as an active member of the Community Support Services leadership team.
  • Works with staff and Community Corporations to develop long-term fund development plans.
  • Provides local support to the CSS leadership team and Engagement Leads.
  • Liaises with VON Canada Fund Development staff and works in partnership on various projects.
  • Conducts prospect research, proposal writing.
  • Coordinates various donor-related communication vehicles.
  • Provides first point of contact for all donors and prospects.

 Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary degree in business, public administration or other relevant fields of study.
  • Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) designation an asset.
  • Minimum five (5) years fundraising management experience is essential.
  • Proven experience managing a prospect pipeline.
  • Experience in planning and executing fund development programs and campaigns in collaboration with staff and volunteers.
  • Proven track record of attracting, retaining and deepening the engagement of donors.
  • Experience working in an organization with both a national and a local dynamic.
  • Experience working in the healthcare and/or community support services sector is an asset.
  • Extensive experience with Blackbaud products is required.
  • Knowledge of fundraising processes, best practices, and current industry trends.
  • Must be fully conversant with CRA requirements as they apply to registered charities.
  • Must be willing and able to travel throughout the sites/region.
