Communications Coordinator

                                                                                                          

Division/Department:   Community Engagement

Reports to:                     Director, Education & Community Engagement                 

Hours:                             Up to 21hrs/week (Temporary until March 30, 2019)                

 

General Description:

We are adding to our exciting Community Engagement team! We need to build infrastructure, communications, fundraising opportunities, relationships and long term investors as our new way forward.

You would be a fit for this job if you’re busting to use your communication and graphic design skills for a great cause. You’re able to bring them together on video, social media, print, and electronic messages. You’ll be contributing your talents and knowledge to exciting new engagement activities and helping us build a future legacy for our organization.  

This pivotal position will support communications, marketing, and development activities, including:

 

Design:

  • Graphic design of communications material including print, online, and social media.
  • Marketing and fundraising campaign design
  • Video design and messaging
  • Website design and messaging

Planning:

  • Assisting with marketing and communications planning for enhanced stakeholder engagement.
  • Helping to coordinate communications activities for distribution across various media channels including print, social media, web, and video.
  • Copywriting for marketing and promotional pieces.
  • Support for donor development activities.
  • Event communication and design as needed

 

Communications:

  • Writing, design and execution of Member, Clients & Donor communication including Enews, social media, letters, and other material as needed.
  • Research, statistics, and story collection
  • Press Releases and media articles
  • Develop marketing and communications plans and tactics.

 

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

 

  • Degree or diploma in Communications, Design, or a combination of relevant education and experience.
  • Education and experience in multi-media design, including video editing and knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Education and experience in communications and/or marketing.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills are required.
  • Experience with database management.
  • Knowledge of or experience with fundraising.
  • Familiarity with non-profit sector and the adoption community are desirable.
  • Recognizes the impact of one’s own culture on intercultural interactions and adapt to cultural differences. Has a strong understanding of one’s own culture and perspectives whilst able to accept cultural diversity and the multitude of approaches and range of ideas available. Applies learning in a manner that is respectful of and appropriate for the culture in question.

Expectation:

  • Canadian citizen or permanent resident, or have official refugee protection status under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (foreign students are not eligible)
  • Legally entitled to work in Canada, according to relevant provincial/territorial legislation and regulations.
