Location: Edmonton Salary: The starting hourly range for this role is $30.20 – $33.97 per hour based on a 35-hour week.

Norwood Child & Family Resource Centre provides programs that strengthen and enrich the lives of children and families. Norwood programs are targeted for families with children birth – 5 years old. Early childhood experiences are aimed at fostering optimal child development and healthy parent-child attachment.  Parent education opportunities are created to support building the capacity of families.  Family support services are provided to support families as the child’s first and most important teacher.  Information and referral is a key practice in supporting families to grown and learn within their own communities.  Programs are delivered using a holistic approach to support the social, emotional, intellectual, language, physical and creative needs of children and families in the community.

 

Reporting to the Program Director, the Family Support Manager provides direct supervision to the Coordinators of Home Visitation, Relentless Connector, Family Education, Intake and Family Time teams responsible for the delivery of services to children and families. The Family Support Manager works collaboratively with Norwood  leadership to perform responsibilities such as supervision of staff, evaluation, program development, oversight of program deliverables, report writing, coordination of services, contributing to the strategic plan and supporting best practices throughout all areas of Norwood.

 

This position requires a flexible work schedule that includes evening and weekend shifts.

Reporting to the Program Director, the Family Support Manager will:

  • Provide direct supervision and support to Norwood Coordinators including performance reviews and ongoing support
  • Oversee program deliverables to children, families and the community ensuring all documentation is completed accurately and in a timely manner
  • Lead a team of multidisciplinary professionals to meet agency outcomes through collaboration
  • Implement appropriate documentation and protocol measures, best practices in conjunction with Norwood’s policies and practices, funder requirements and program outcomes
  • Develop proposals and reports based on expected services and program implementation
  • Liaise between partnering agencies and external groups; promoting and facilitating effective communication and cooperation
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the Early Years supporting parent child interactions
  • Collaborate as a member of the agency leadership team; promote and model organizational values, contribute to strategic planning, program development and coaching of staff
  • Connect the agency work and programs to the community through consultation and networking processes through the development of partnerships

The ideal candidates will possess the following qualifications:

  • Post-secondary diploma or degree in Human Services field ex. Early Learning and Child Care, Social Work, or Human Ecology
  • Minimum of 3 years supervisory experience
  • Minimum of 5 years working with children and families in a community based setting
  • Proven ability to build and maintain positive relationships with committees, community partnership, professional organizations and other stakeholders in the community
  • Strong facilitation and communication skills to effectively manage events and projects
  • Effective leadership skills including performance management processes
  • Strong interpersonal skills and experience working in a team environment
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize
  • Adapts to changing work environments; work priorities and organizational needs
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • A current First Aid Certificate, Criminal Record Check and CWIS Record Check
  • A valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle
