Scope and Purpose:

 

Reporting to the Director of Programs and working closely with the Director of Development and Engagement, the Regional Development Coordinator manages the delivery of programs and development of funding throughout northern Alberta and the Northwest Territories for Junior Achievement.

 

The Regional Development Coordinator fulfills a multi-faceted role in the planning and delivery of JANA programs including the recruitment, training, and recognition of volunteers, and, in addition, will manage school relations regionally, recruiting, and registering programs.  This position also plays a vital development role in the cultivation of local business contacts, donors, and community partners with the goal of increasing regional sustainability.

Responsibilities:

 

Program Coordination and School Relations: 

  • Recruit and retain schools to participate in Junior Achievement programming
  • Manage and track all school communications, program registrations, and data entry of classes, teachers, and schools in JA databases
  • Oversee program delivery at school locations as appropriate; deliver programs if/when necessary
  • Ensure quality of program delivery through follow-up surveys with teachers and students
  • Organize and coordinate World of Choices events
  • Collaborate with Company Program Manager to register and support regional Company Programs
  • Manage booth at all relative teacher conventions
  • Coordinate teacher recognition activities

 Volunteer Management:

  • Recruitment of volunteers in accordance with program goals and JANA intake procedures
  • Complete timely data entry of all regional volunteers into JA volunteer database
  • Coordinate and, if needed, facilitate program training for regional volunteers
  • Follow up with volunteers post-delivery including completion of on-line surveys
  • Coordinate volunteer recognition activities with Program Team

 Development & Administration:

  • Responsible for identifying and cultivating regional donors, sponsors, and corporate partners
  • Will actively participate in the solicitation and stewardship of regional donations and sponsorship
  • Identify and complete applications for regionally specific grants
  • Evaluate and report on fundraising objectives, targets, progress, and deliverables for regional programming
  • Complete impact and final reports for regional funders
  • Work with Senior Leadership to prepare the annual fundraising/development budget for regional programming
  • Ensure adherence to regional budget through regular monitoring and reporting
  • Organize and chair Regional Leadership Councils and meetings
  • Monitor and order program and marketing materials for regional locations

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary degree in business administration, event planning, public relations, or related field
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, & Outlook) and Google
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; conflict management skills
  • High degree of motivation and self-direction; superior organizational skills

 

Desired Skills & Experience:

  • Aptitude and enthusiasm for educating local youth and experience working in the non-profit sector
  • Relationship building ability with community stakeholders
  • Knowledge of local community, business, & volunteer networks
  • Marketing & fundraising experience an asset
  • Experience with an online database system is an asset

 

Work Schedule & Requirements:

  • Travel is required, approximately 5-10 business days a month
  • Class 5 driver’s license is required
