Youth Performance Training Organization Seeking Energetic Fund Coordinator

 

The SHOW Company is a local not-for-profit, youth performing company specializing in vocal and dance training for young artists aged 9 – 25. The SHOW was founded in 2016 and has been steadily growing and gaining a profile within the city and through its online media presence since.

 

The SHOW’s mission is to empower emerging young performers at every level of learning. Training with the SHOW goes beyond taking a signing lesson or a dance class.  Company members are encouraged to hone their talents, go beyond their best, and ultimately transition from amateur to professional artists.

 

No other program offers a well-rounded performance education for pre–professional performers over 18 years of age.  We offer professional level training within Calgary, so that talented young performers do not need to leave for other locations (most commonly Los Angeles, New York, Toronto and Vancouver).  We prepare these aspiring artists for the world of performance right here and grow Calgary’s artistic community at the same time!

 

The SHOW has 3 divisions:

  1. Juniors (age 9 – 12)
  2. Seniors (age 13 – 18)
  3. Headliners (age 16 – 25)

We want you to be part of our success and help us to grow our local talent right here in Calgary. To meet our growth and program objectives, The SHOW is seeking a talented and driven fundraising professional.  

 

The Role: Fund Coordinator, Major Gifts

 

Reporting to the Directors and  working primarily out of your home office, the Fund Coordinator, Major Gifts (FC) works to ensure fundraising goals are met through current donors and prospects.  The FC is responsible for the identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of major gifts to The SHOW. Initially the role will be half-time (20 hours per week) with a plan to transition to full-time over 4 - 6 months.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Engagement and solicitation of new prospects and growth of current donor relationships;
  • Help meet financial objectives and achieve long-term fundraising goals of the major gift portfolio;
  • Develop and implement comprehensive plans for identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding gifts;
  • Prepare and deliver high quality proposals, presentations and other communication materials to donors and prospective donors;
  • Establish and maintain professional and productive relationships with key volunteers, prospects, donors, and other organizational supporters;
  • Maintain accurate, professional and current hard-copy records, actions, and reports;
  • Participate actively as a member of the overall team at The SHOW;
  • Be available to attend events on an as-needed basis.

The SHOW is a fast-paced and exciting place to work, and the FC, Major Gifts will thrive in this type of environment as an enthusiastic and energetic team member. As FC, you will be most successful if you have demonstrated success applying the following skills and abilities:

  • Adherence to a high ethical standard in fundraising;
  • A successful track record in revenue growth within previous positions;
  • Demonstrated track record in soliciting donations;
  • Demonstrated strong decision making, problem solving and research skills;
  • Aptitude for building strong, long lasting relationships between donors and The SHOW;
  • Ability to take initiative and work both independently and with a team to develop and grow a portfolio of donors, with a goal of meeting revenue objectives;
  • Excellent communication skills along with strong interpersonal abilities, tact, and diplomacy;
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Google Docs.

Ideally you have honed these skills and abilities through a post-secondary degree in a related field or a combination of education and experience. You have a minimum of 2 – 4 years of experience working in a not-for-profit development related role with at least one year directly related to making solicitations at a major gift level, including demonstrated experience closing gifts of $5,000 and above.  Having experience working with AGLC for raffle licenses and casinos would be considered an asset. You have a passion for the arts, youth education and elevating Calgary’s cultural profile.
