Develop, implement and maintain programs/outreach ministries relevant to the church and community at large, including, fellowship, and regular special events.

Contribute to the development of families within the church and community by mentoring, encouraging, and modeling appropriate attitudes and behaviors.

Participate and coordinate Christian education programs including assisting in the training and development of its leaders and acting as a resource support.

Plan and implement fellowship events with the goal of creating fun, fellowship, and outreach.

Demonstrate keen interest in connecting families to our church through programs and building relationships

Maintain written records, logs of activities, including activity reports and statistical information

Support and participate in Divisional events.

Work alongside and provide guidance and instruction to volunteers.

Implement a plan for a leadership development program to, recruit, train, and retain volunteers and facilitate opportunities for further training, and volunteer recognition; act as a resource support.

Evaluate the effectiveness of current programming, propose changes as needed and successfully design and implement changes to ensure relevant ministries.

Develop and implement outreach ministries in cooperation with the Community and Family Manager.

Assist with transporting individuals to and from programs i.e. camp, senior’s programs, kids programs, etc. 

Recruit, register, and follow-up with children and their families from The Salvation Army summer camps, in order to connect to local programs and ministries.

May assist with Christmas programs and Christmas Kettle Campaign as required.

Actively promote Simcoe Community Church programs within the community.

Interact with community partners as necessary to seek resources and services

Perform other position related duties as required.



Completion of a Community College, e.g. Diploma in  Social Services, or equivalent education

Minimum of two (2) years prior related experience designing and implementing programs

NOTE: Alternative combinations of education and experience may be considered

Capable of establishing and maintaining positive interpersonal relationships and ability to work as an effective team member with limited supervision

Demonstrate a high level of integrity, good judgment and ability to maintain confidentiality.

Current Safe Food Handling Certificate, or willing to obtain and maintain current certificate

Current CPR/First Aid certification and Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Training would be an asset

Ability to lift/move 40 lbs. (18.14 kgs)

Strong team player, leadership skills are required

Proficiency with social media (Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, Twitter)

Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Word, PowerPoint, Excel

Self-motivated,  disciplined and well-organized

Adaptability: Demonstrate a willingness to be flexible, versatile, and/or tolerant in a changing work environment while maintaining effectiveness and efficiency.

Behave Ethically.in a manner consistent with the values and standards of the organization

Valid Ontario Class “G” Driver’s License, personal vehicle and insurance is required; an original copy of a current Driver’s Abstract that is satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion is required.

Provide an original copy of a Background Check with vulnerable sector screening that is satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion, is required.  The screening is secured either through the National Canadian Policy Information Centre (CPIC) or through a local police detachment.

This is a full-time position based on 35 hours per week and includes a ½-hour unpaid meal break.    Travel is required.


The supervisor will set the hours of work and work schedule as per operational requirements, Monday to Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and includes a ½ hour unpaid meal break.   The schedule will vary according to requirements and responsibilities weekend and evening work will be required.


Please note: there may be a seasonal temporary increase in hours to a maximum of 40 hours per week during the months of November and December and includes a ½-hour unpaid meal break as required.
