Part-time Term Position (until March 2019)

Position Summary:

PCRS in partnership with the City of Chilliwack requires a part-time housing connection worker to support a caseload of individuals who are currently precariously housed in non-sustainable housing.  The individual will support and facilitate the introduction to alternative housing options by connecting with housing support systems already established in the community.  The successful candidate will work with individuals on a one-on-one basis, providing connection to landlords, assistance in maneuvering residential tenancy agreements, providing access to financial supports (when needed), and ensuring individuals are linked in with ongoing supports in the community.

 

Academic and Job Experience Required:

Social Services diploma plus two years’ experience; or B.A. in a related field and one year related experience; or a combination of related work experience and education. Experience in working with mental health and addiction is necessary.

 

Basic Requirements:

  • Criminal records check including the vulnerable sector
  • Valid BC driver’s license with business insurance use
  • Use of own vehicle (mileage is paid)
  • Driver’s abstract must be submitted

Desired Requirements:

  • Previous residential experience
  • Motivational interviewing
  • Solution focused counselling
  • Substance use counselling training
  • Knowledge of attachment theory and trauma informed practice
  • Depression/Suicide/Co-occurring disorder training.
