Breakfast Club of Canada is looking for someone amazing to take on the role of Advisor, Indigenous Programs – Western Canada & Ontario. 


Key responsibilities:


Reporting directly to the Western Supervisor, the person hired for this position will be in responsible for: (1) supporting Indigenous schools and regional partners, (2) building capacity in schools and communities through in-person training sessions, (3) developing and implementing projects to improve food security and access for communities, (4) collaborating with corporate and non-profit partners, and (5) building proximity across the assigned territory. This person will develop and execute initiatives to improve the quality of service provided by the Club to Indigenous partners, as well as develop new and meaningful relationships with key stakeholders across Western Canada and Ontario.


More specifically, the person hired for this position will:

  • Collaborate with partner communities to arrange and deliver in-person training sessions to improve local capacity in nutrition and program management;
  • Develop, track, and report on KPIs regarding service levels and local impact; report information and analyse data concerning local and regional support;
  • Support and visit on a regular basis schools and regional partners in their breakfast program needs and training activities;
  • Support colleagues to enhance relationships within school communities and facilitate collaboration;
  • Perform other duties as required to ensure the smooth functioning of the team.

What we’re looking for:

Experience with Indigenous Communities

  • Experience working with Indigenous communities in Canada;
  • Indigenous candidates are encouraged to apply;
  • High level of cultural competency and strong cultural mediation skills;
  • Experience working in the public school system is an asset;
  • Able to develop and maintain strong relationships with various groups of people.

Creativity and Media Skills

  • Facilitation and presentation skills;
  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience in a similar position, involving workshop facilitation/training, community service, inter-cultural relations, working in a school environment, and/or program management;
  • Photography/video and writing skills.

Additional Requirements

  • Research and development skills as well as interest and/or experience in food system logistics;
  • Undergraduate University degree in Anthropology, Social Sciences, Community Development, Education, Native Studies, or equivalent experience;
  • Proficient in English, written and spoken;
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office;
  • Must satisfy a background security check.

Work Conditions

  • 40 hours/week;
  • Competitive salary and benefits according to the Club’s policy;
  • Work location: home office, flexible;
  • Frequent travel required;
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.
