Norwood Child and Family Resource Centre is an Edmonton based non-profit organization that has been supporting children and families since 1963, with a vision of Healthy Children, Healthy Families, Healthy Communities. Our programs and services are designed to strengthen and enrich families with children birth – 5 years old. Early childhood experiences are aimed at fostering optimal child development and healthy parent-child attachment.  Parent education opportunities are created to support building the capacity of families.  Family support services are provided to support families as the child’s first and most important teacher.  Information and referral is a key practice in supporting families to grow and learn within their own communities.  Programs are delivered using a holistic approach to support the social, emotional, intellectual, language, physical and creative needs of children and families in the community. Reporting to the Home Visitation and Family Education Manager, the Family Educator and Intake Coordinator provides direct supervision to the Norwood team responsible for the delivery of services to children and families within the communities we serve. Major responsibilities include group coordination, supervision, administration, evaluation and promotion. The Coordinator works collaboratively with Norwood staff and leadership to perform responsibilities such as reflective supervision of staff, administration, evaluation, coordination of services and supporting best practices within all of Norwood’s programs and services.


This position requires a flexible work schedule that includes evenings and weekends to meet the needs of the families.

Reporting to the Home Visitation and Family Education Manager, the Family Education and Intake Coordinator is responsible for the following:

  • Coordinate agency groups, workshops and intake process
  • Schedule staff to conduct intakes and facilitate groups and workshops
  • Maintain accurate and timely records of Family Education and Intake activities
  • Overseeing and coordinating of the promotion of groups and workshops
  • Provide direct supervision, support and coaching to Norwood staff
  • Support and coordinate the work of contracted facilitators
  • Conduct evaluation activities and review data to monitor and ensure program effectiveness and adherence to agency standards of excellence
  • Attend community networks as an agency representative as required
  • Promote and model organizational values, contribute to strategic planning, program development and coaching of staff
  • Collaborate with internal and external team members, partners and service providers to offer seamless service delivery and support the voice and choice of families

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:

  • Possess a completed degree or diploma in Early Childhood Education or the Human Services Field
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in group facilitation and/or group coordination
  • A minimum of 3 years of supervisory experience
  • Knowledge of community resources
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong knowledge of early child development and parenting skills
  • Strength based philosophy to ensure families are involved in goal planning and decisions related to them
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Proficient computer proficiency in word, outlook and excel
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize
  • Ability to collaborate within a multi-disciplinary team
  • Current First Aid certification, Criminal Record Check and CWIS Record Check
  • A valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle
  • Triple P training is a definite asset

The following qualifications are considered an asset:

  • Triple P training is a definite asset
  • Experience or knowledge of Parent Link Centres

The starting hourly range for this role is $27.06 – $30.45 per hour based on a 35-hour week.
