Women Building Futures wants to add a curious, creative and experienced strategic communications professional to their Communications team.

 

Reporting to the Director of Strategic Communications and Government Relations, the successful applicant will be a guiding force in creating and implementing strategies that will take the organization to the next level.

 

In this role, your ability for creating and implementing strategies will engage a broad spectrum of external audiences including future WBF applicants, industry partners, government, funders and passionate WBF ambassadors. Your work will align with WBF’s purpose of providing women with career opportunities, building a highly skilled workforce for the future and forever changing the face of industry!

 

The Communications Advisor will:

  • Lead the development, implementation, planning and management of short- and long-term strategic communications plans to support multiple business goals including fund development
  • Work collaboratively with the Manager of Brand and Marketing to connect with business partners, designers and media buyers to create targeted and cost-effective collateral - including advertising campaigns
  • Work collaboratively with the Marketing & Digital Media Specialist using digital and social media in support of corporate objectives, including generating social media plans and content to optimize social media reach and influence
  • Proactively and reactively manage media relations and issues, including planning and managing media events, coaching spokespeople and developing issues strategies and messaging
  • Confidently provide advice and expertise to the Director of Strategic Communications and cross-functional counsel throughout the organization
  • Make complex ideas and specialized information understandable and meaningful to target audiences
  • Organize and coordinate public relations opportunities, including writing speaking notes, liaising with participants and producing other materials that may be required
  • Actively support the internal communications needs of a growing not-for-profit

Qualifications:

  • Ideally searching for that next-step role in your career
  • Degree or diploma in communications, public relations or related field, supplemented by a minimum of two to four years’ progressively responsible experience in a designated corporate communications, public relations, public affairs or public information position
  • Experience with corporate communication tools, communication planning, advertising, printing, graphic design, photography, videography, traditional media, social media and other web-based communications
  • Demonstrated experience in successfully researching, developing, implementing and evaluating communications plans
  • Exceptional project management skills, demonstrated by sound judgment and decision-making skills to determine business solutions, directions and priorities
  • Ability to challenge the status quo and stimulate a bias toward action
  • Experience working with diverse stakeholder groups impacted by projects or initiatives
  • Demonstrated experience with traditional media relations’ best practices
  • Superior issues identification and management skills along with proven client consulting and relationship-building skills
  • Demonstrated superior written and verbal communication and presentation skills
  • Mature individual who can manage difficult discussions with co-workers to achieve positive mutually beneficial outcomes
