Nature of Work: Saturday: 19:15 – 07:15, Sunday: 19:45 - 07:30, Monday: 22:00 - 08:00


We are looking for an Overnight Residential Support Worker to work with homeless women who are either alone or accompanied by their children. Our services have a low threshold for entry and we strive to support women in the circumstances of their lives. Our programs operate on an awake around the clock basis. Your primary responsibility is to establish a working rapport with women and ensure the safety and well being of the residents on a daily basis through providing support and case management. During the late hours when women are asleep you will conduct bed checks to ensure their well being, and perform light housekeeping tasks. As needed you will provide women crisis intervention or support to assist them to maintain their stability.


Key Duties/Accountabilities:

You will provide a warm safe supportive environment for women to enable them to settle themselves and their children. As needed you will intervene to maintain a positive group living environment. As part of a cooperative work environment you will carry responsibility for housekeeping tasks and ensuring the morning routines of women. You are responsible for the overall manage and functioning of the program while on duty within the established guidelines and policies of EFry.


Education and Experience:

  • Diploma in the field of Social Services, or equivalent education combined with With experience graveyard staff may qualify for day line positions that require a degree.
  • First Aid, Food Safe


Skills and Abilities:

  • residential work with a diverse client group
  • working with women in a related area
  • sound knowledge of women’s issues
  • excellent oral & written communication skills
  • knowledge of community resources
  • knowledge of mental health issues
  • knowledge of drug & alcohol issues
  • crisis intervention or counselling workshops/courses
