Greeter Team Lead, Part-time

The Mustard Seed provides basic services— food, clothing and housing, and support services—education and employment, to those living in poverty within Alberta.



Reporting to the Employment Coach, the Greeter Team Lead is responsible for providing leadership to the Greeters and liaising with the Royal Alberta Museum staff. As a member of the Greeting team, the Supervisor will also provide a welcoming first impression to everyone entering the facility. He or she will address any visitor questions and direct them towards appropriate areas (e.g. admissions area, conference rooms, classrooms).

This position is embedded in the Employment Program and is part of a team that is committed to reintegration, developing hope and skills while providing a healthy and supportive workplace.





  • Welcome visitors to the museum and provide directions (parking, LRT, admissions area, conference rooms, theatre, washrooms, classrooms, etc.)
  • Answer guests’ questions about the museum and The Mustard Seed
  • Usher visitors to appropriate gathering areas to minimize bottleneck situations
  • Assist security in identifying and resolving suspicious behaviours



  • Act as a liaison between museum staff and the greeting team
  • Report employment-related concerns (e.g. problematic behaviours, absences, late arrivals, improper attire. Etc.) to the employment coach for resolution
  • Help employment coach in the development of monthly schedules.
  • Find relief coverage in the staff pool
  • Provide general advice to greeters and answer their questions relating to job duties
  • Assist greeters with the entry of time sheets each pay period


  • This is a Part-time, hourly position (shift work) working 15 to 25 hours per week—Schedule 1: Thursdays 2:45 pm to 7:45 pm, Fridays 9:45 am to 4:45 pm, Saturdays 9:45 am to 12:45 pm; Schedule 2: Saturdays 12:45 pm to 4:45 pm, Mondays 12:45 pm to 4:45 pm
  • Physical effort: Frequent standing and walking for long periods of time
  • Mental effort: moderate, periods of high traffic and ability to assist guests
  • Interacting with the public
  • Previous customer service experience or training is an asset, but not required
  • Ability to communicate with a diverse range of people including children
  • Willingness to work on weekends, holidays, and occasional evenings
  • Willingness to be part of the Employment Program
  • A team player, who works collaboratively with team-mates and has a ‘teachable spirit’ 


  • Employment Security Check is required

  • Must have legal authorization to work in Canada on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer
