Position: Mental Health Worker - Drop-In Program (Casual)

Status: Permanent, Casual


Salary & Compensation: $20.46 to $22.38 per hour + 9.6% on each hour worked in lieu of statutory holidays and vacations



The Kettle Society supports people with mental illness to lead healthier lives by providing support services, advocacy, employment and mentoring and housing. We work to raise awareness of mental health issues, break down stigma and reduce barriers for people with mental illness. Our goal is to promote inclusion of people living with mental illness in all aspects of society.


Job Summary:

In accordance with The Kettle Society values, the Mental Heal Worker at the Drop-In is responsible for the day to day delivery of psychosocial recreational and life skills programs to Kettle members.

Our team is looking to fill casual shifts with an emphasis on weekends and the flexibility to work weekdays and statuary holidays.



  • Certificate in Community Social Services – Mental Health (or related)
  • Two-years experience in a mental health setting including community work experience and volunteer work (or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
  • Valid Occupational First Aid Level 1 certificate 
  • Valid Food Safe Level 1 certificate

Abilities & Skills:

  • Ability to work with people with a mental illness
  • Ability to observe and recognize changes in clients
  • Knowledge of housing issues and community resources
  • Ability to establish and maintain rapport with clients, staff, management and collateral service providers
  • Have an understanding of Psycho-social Rehabilitation (PSR) and Concurrent Disorders
  • Conflict resolution and crisis intervention skills
  • Ability to work with the harm reduction model
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
  • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position
  • Ability to work independently and in cooperation with others
  • Ability to operate related equipment
  • Ability to organize and prioritize
