NEC Native Education College is the largest private Aboriginal College in BC, working with First Nations and Aboriginal organizations to deliver programs in locations throughout British Columbia. We strive to combine academic excellence with a strong commitment to First Nations community-based education and the best practices of adult education. Our programs have Aboriginal content and delivery methods and offer credit transfer to colleges and universities. Reporting to the Program Manager of Human Services, NEC is currently seeking casual instructors for the courses indicated below:

 

ENG 110 Introduction to College Writing                                SOC 110 Family Dynamics

ENG 210 Academic Writing                                                   FCC 115 Interpersonal Communications

FCC 210 Introduction to Social Work Practice                        FCC 230 Legal Advocacy

FCC 235 Aboriginal Rehabilitation and Recovery                   FCC 265 Mental Health

FCC 135: Community Capacity Building & Program Planning

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree (in psychology, social work, or a relevant field) and two years of experience in a related field are required; possession of a Master’s degree is preferred;
  • Successful instructional experience, preferably at the post-secondary level;
  • Knowledge of and successful experience with Aboriginal adult instructional methodology;
  • Aboriginal ancestry or extensive experience working with Aboriginal organizations;
  • Excellent verbal, written, and computer communication skills;
  • An equivalent combination of education and work experience will be considered.

Terms:

Appointment to this contract position(s) will require a formal criminal record check, the details of which may preclude an offer of employment being finalized. Preference will be given to qualified Aboriginal applicants. This position is open to male and female applicants.  

           

Closing Date:             Monday, August 13, 2018

Starting Date:            Week of September 10, 2018

Hours:                        Each course is delivered once a week

Salary:                        $30.65/hr
