The NEC Native Education College is a private college for Indigenous learners to live their cultural heritage and realize their true potential. NEC works to strengthen Indigenous communities through accredited programs that lead to employment and higher learning. The Indigenous cultural values in NEC programs are at the core of reconciliation, economic success and a sustainable future for all nations.


The Justice and Public Safety (JPS) program provides 30 credits with the Justice Institute of British Columbia (JIBC) as a jointly delivered program. Upon completion, the JIBC’s Justice and Public Safety Certificate is granted.


NEC is currently seeking Casual Instructor(s) for the following JPS courses:


CMNS 125 – Interpersonal Communications

ENG. 110 – Introduction to College Writing


JPS courses are classroom based and developed and taught from an Aboriginal cultural perspective. For course description or further information about the JPS program visit our website.



Any combination of education and work experience as follows will be considered:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field, a Master’s Degree preferred; at least 2 years experience in a relevant field;
  • Significant teaching experience, preferably in the post-secondary education system;
  • Excellent verbal, written and computer communication skills.
  • Experience teaching Microsoft Office specifically “Word” to students with a wide range of skill levels.
  • Word processing would be applied towards resume creation and job search skills training.
  • Knowledge of Aboriginal values, communities, and instructional methodology, and experience working with Aboriginal organizations and Aboriginal adults.


Appointment to this short-term contract position(s) will require a formal criminal record check, the details of which may preclude an offer of employment being finalized. This position is open to male and female applicants. Preference will be given to qualified Aboriginal applicants.

Hours:                         as scheduled, depending on course(s)

Salary:                         $40.50/hr
