Norwood Child and Family Resource Centre is an Edmonton based non-profit organization that has been supporting children and families since 1963, with a vision of Healthy Children, Healthy Families, Healthy Communities. Our programs and services are designed to strengthen and enrich families with children birth – 5 years old. Early childhood experiences are aimed at fostering optimal child development and healthy parent-child attachment.  Parent education opportunities are created to support building the capacity of families.  Family support services are provided to support families as the child’s first and most important teacher.  Information and referral is a key practice in supporting families to grow and learn within their own communities.  Programs are delivered using a holistic approach to support the social, emotional, intellectual, language, physical and creative needs of children and families in the community. This is a dual role encompassing both Intake and Group facilitation responsibilities.

In the role of Intake Facilitator you are responsible for conducting program intakes, utilizing the Canadian Social Determinants of Health, initial home visits with families, referrals, agency promotion, ongoing program evaluation as well as, effective data entry, thorough file creation, management and review.


In the role of Group Facilitator you are responsible for supporting families with children birth – 5 years old by connecting them to relevant resources in the community. Major responsibilities include group facilitation, ongoing program evaluation, enhanced program development as identified by community/family needs, and ensure information of current community resources are available to families in order to provide relevant and timely information and referrals.


This position requires a flexible work schedule that includes evenings and weekend shifts at a variety of sites to meet the needs of the families.

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:

  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in a human services field e.g. Early Learning and Child Care Diploma, Human Ecology or related field
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience working with children and families from diverse cultural and socio-economic backgrounds and conducting regular in home visits
  • 2 years’ experience in facilitating groups (Effective presentation and group facilitation skills)
  • Strong knowledge of child development and parenting skills
  • Strong knowledge of community resources and ability to make appropriate referrals
  • Experience working with families to identify strengths and areas needing support
  • Work both independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
  • Effective problem solving and initiating solution focused results
  • Attention to detail, organized and able to prioritize multiple requests
  • Reflecting openly with families to determine any needs/issues they may be encountering
  • Developing and maintaining positive working relationships with stakeholders and community partners
  • Strong working knowledge of MS Office, with experience in Excel, and database systems
  • Valid driver’s license, clear driver’s abstract
  • A current First Aid Certificate, Criminal Record Check and Child Welfare Intervention Record Check

The following qualifications are considered an asset:

  • Conducting intakes and child development screens (ASQ/ASQ-SE)
  • Training including; Relationship Based Practice, Triple P training and other relevant group trainings
