Responsibilities

  • Provide skill based assessment, intervention and follow-up services with children, youth and families participating in Intensive Child and Family Services and Early Years Services;
  • The position involves In Home work with families; as well as facilitation of Youth and Parent Groups. Candidates need to be available up to 3 evenings per week;
  • Work to support the treatment goals of children and youth participating in day treatment programs;
  • Provide supports identified in child and family service plans;
  • Facilitate parent, child and youth psychoeducational groups;
  • Administer appropriate screens / assessment tools;
  • Develop and implement short-term intervention strategies with children, youth and families congruent with individualized service goals;
  • Maintain collaborative and coordinated approach in treatment implementation;
  • Develop and maintain professional working relationships and boundaries with children, youth and families;
  • Participate in and contribute to service planning and review meetings as required;
  • Facilitate the development of parent, child and youth skills and resources.

 


Skills and Qualifications

  • Child and Youth Worker diploma and/or Diploma/Degree in Behavioural Sciences/Child, Youth and Family Studies with courses completed in child development, child behaviour, working with families, and counselling skills;
  • At least two years full-time paid work experience with children, youth and families providing mental health services;
  • Ability to fluently communicate in French verbally and in writing is required; The successful candidate must satisfactorily complete a French proficiency test;
  • Certification in Crisis Prevention Intervention or equivalent;
  • Current First Aid and CPR Certificates:
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, interpersonal skills and a strong affinity Valid Province of Ontario driver’s license as well as automobile insurance with a minimum liability of one million dollars for business purposes;
  • Satisfactory Criminal Record Check (including Vulnerable Sector Screening) and Pre-Employment health assessment.
