Elder Help – Peel (EHP) enriches the lives of elderly Peel residents by offering information, education, and supportive services in a welcoming and inclusive environment that fosters independence and community connections.


This position will report to the Executive Director and will carry out all duties related to the day to day financial administration, computerized booking, and financial reports of all the programs and services of the organization.



  • Record financial expenditures and receipts in accordance with accepted accounting principles, and in a format acceptable to the Board of Directors, Funders and the Executive Director.
  • Maintain an orderly accounting filing system and ensure proper maintenance of financial records.
  • Prepare monthly bank reconciliation, balance sheets, receipts and disbursements, statements of expenditures and other financial documents as requested.
  • Ensure that all payments, cheques and disbursements have been carried out with appropriate authorization and necessary supporting documents are recorded.
  • Maintain monthly accounting for petty cash and related statements of reconciliation.
  • Prepare monthly/quarterly reports such as payroll, vacation pay reports, vacation status and T4 tax receipts.
  • Follow up to resolve errors and discrepancies in accordance with established procedures.
  • Prepare monthly and annual financial statements for submission.
  • Ensure all necessary preparation is carried out for the annual financial audit.
  • Ensure the completion of a yearly inventory of the organization’s fixed assets.
  • Prepare financial analysis and reports.
  • Respond to inquiries and requests regarding payroll, and other bookkeeping duties.
  • Prepare and present the monthly financial report to the board of directors at the beginning of each meeting.



3CGA, CMA or CPA designation will be an asset. 

Experience working with Quick Books.




Strong accounting and bookkeeping skills with attention to detail.            

Excellent organizational and time management skills.               

Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team setting.

Strong communication skills (verbal and written).

Experience working with a non-profit organization will be an asset.

Experience: Minimum 2 years of proven bookkeeping experience.

Education: A degree or diploma in accounting or business management.
