The North Central Family Support Program (NCFSP) provides a wide range of free programs and services to meet the diverse needs of families residing in 18 North Central Calgary communities.  

 

We provide educational workshops for parents and families, assist with system navigation, and partner with a number of organizations to provide basic needs support, parenting and child development resources, free family activities, and community connection opportunities. Our initiatives and programs continue to evolve based on the emergent needs and requests from our community members. We are currently seeking a Program Coordinator for our Lone Parent Program to join our small but dynamic team. The successful candidate will have a skill set that is focused on providing strength based supports, building relationships with multiple stakeholders, and significant family engagement expertise. Adaptability, creativity, flexibility, strong resource and program development skills and a warm, welcoming nature are essential for success in our constantly changing service landscape. 

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Coordinate and facilitate the Lone Parent program including our 6-week workshop series and monthly Networking Collective
  • Program development
  • Continually expand knowledge of local resources and programs
  • Act as a representative at sector serving meetings and represent NCFSP at public speaking engagements
  • Advocacy, supported referrals
  • Community building and partnerships
  • Strengthening Lone Parent families; building resiliency in families
  • Increase protective factors in families
  • Ensure client confidentiality and security of files
  • Provide intake with families
  • Provide follow up and case management where necessary

MAIN ACTIVITIES

  • Required to facilitate groups, workshops, family events, and attend interagency meetings
  • Maintain regular office hours while accommodating evening and weekend work when required
  • Marketing and promotion of the program
  • Maintain client files and monthly statistics/reports to the Program Manager
  • Meet funding requirements as set out in our contract
  • Perform other duties as required

QUALIFICATIONS

  • BSW or degree in related discipline is required for this position. Candidate must be registered and in good standing with ACSW.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Demonstrated commitment to prevention and early intervention community based services
  • Knowledge of formal and informal family supports
  • Experience working in culturally diverse and multidisciplinary team settings
  • Strong organizational skills and experience working in a dynamic, evolving environment
  • Ability to work flexible hours, some evening and weekend work is required
  • Knowledge and ability to be culturally sensitive
  • Experience working with Single Parent families an asset
  • A valid drivers licence and access to a reliable vehicle
  • Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector Check
  • Current First Aid or willingness to obtain

This is a fulltime contract position until December 31, 2018 with the possibility of extension.
