Join our front line staff team of highly skilled and supportive individuals, and play a key role in providing wraparound support to inner city young adults. Inner Hope Youth Ministries is a Christian non-profit with a vision of hope through relationships. We walk alongside youth and families in East Vancouver; building long-term relationships and providing services that offer hope, belonging and transformation.

We are seeking an enthusiastic, ministry-minded leader to continue the success of our life skills program and case management services for young adults aged 19-24. This individualized program assists participants in the creation of an employment or post-secondary education plan. It provides the mentorship and practical support needed to achieve their goals and grow in all areas of development as they transition into adulthood.

The successful applicant must be self-motivated, both relational and administrative, with strong leadership skills and a passion for seeing vulnerable young people experience transformation and impact their community.

Start Date: September 2018 (exact date negotiable)

Hours: 35 hours per week; some evenings and weekends required

Remuneration: $20 per hour, plus health benefits and a cell phone/laptop for work purposes

Supervisor: Director of Programs

 

Primary Responsibilities:

  1. Coordinate all aspects of the Post-Secondary Program
    1. Oversee participant recruitment and intake
    2. Coordinate events
    3. Develop and revise project materials (intake forms, resources, etc.)
  2. Case Management
    1. Manage relationships with 12-15 young adult participants as a mentor, confidant, and role model
    2. Facilitate development of individualized education and employment plans, and conduct one-on-one monthly check-ins
    3. Partner with and supervise volunteer tutors, event cooks, and career coaches
    4. When needed, provide crisis intervention and support, with support from front line team
  3. Network with community agencies
  4. Coordinate and host events for the wider Inner Hope community (approx. one per month, e.g. baby shower or grad party)
  5. Maintain records
    1. Document participant progress
    2. Deliver monthly program and financial reports
    3. Complete program stats and reports for funders

 

Position Requirements:

  • Supportive of Inner Hope Youth Ministries (IHYM) Statement of Faith
  • Passionate about IHYM’s Vision, Mission and Values
  • Minimum two years of experience working or volunteering with at-risk youth
  • Five years of combined post-secondary education/workforce experience (related field an asset, e.g. social service or inner city ministry)
  • Knowledge and understanding of Canada’s Indigenous community
  • Strong problem-solving and conflict resolution skills
  • Ability and experience partnering with and supervising volunteers
  • Character, maturity, and skill level to relate positively with youth and families at risk
  • Experience working in a Christian ministry setting is an asset
  • Proven ability to communicate at a professional level, both verbally and written
  • Willingness to adhere to IHYM’s Code of Ethics and all staff policies
  • Acceptable current criminal record check
  • Class 5 (or higher) driver’s license; work-related mileage is reimbursed
