The Sport Medicine Council of Alberta is currently looking for an Executive Director for our Edmonton office.


Responsibilities: Reporting to the President, the Executive Director is the senior staff member of the Sport Medicine Council of Alberta. She/he is responsible for the overall management and administration of the association, including the direction and supervision of the staff and service volunteers. Specific areas of responsibility include administration, planning, human resources management, policy development and implementation, financial management, sponsorship development, marketing and promotion, communications, and public relations.


Job Requirements


Experience Level: a. Minimum 5 years of non-profit management and/or business experience

b. Experience in working with boards and an understanding of governance and policy matters

c. Demonstrated abilities in: staff and volunteer management, including human resources; building relationships with internal and external stakeholders; customer/member service; financial management


Skill Requirements a. Administrative, leadership, organizational and management skills at a very high level

b. Proven strategic and operational planning ability and adept at working collaboratively with staff and board

c. Appreciation of the value of building strong networks and willing to assimilate the culture of a complex sector

d. Excellent oral and written communication skills e. Experience with grant funding


Education a. Undergraduate degree in Business Administration, Sport Administration or a related field.

b. An equivalent education with work experience will be considered.


Remuneration and Hours of Work a. Salary is commensurate with experience

c. Office hours of work are 8:30 – 4:30 pm Monday to Friday; evening and weekend work may become necessary from time to time - time off in lieu is provided
