POSITION SUMMARY

 

Reporting to the Associate VP – Development Strategies, the Director, Redevelopment is responsible for developing strategic business planning and project strategies as they relate to redevelopment opportunities in accordance with BC Housing’s mandate and government objectives.

 

CANDIDATE PROFILE

 

The successful candidate will have the following:

 

EDUCATION:

  • University degree in a related field such as land use planning, urban land economics or equivalent real estate development experience and financing, and/or business administration.
  • Professional certification in Project Management and/or Risk Management preferred.

EXPERIENCE:

 

Considerable experience in the planning, development and construction of multi-unit residential housing, supplemented by strong experience in project and risk management, project planning, and program/project administration, preferably within the public or not-for-profit sector.

 

 KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Significant knowledge and understanding of affordable housing program implementation, and the planning, development and construction of multi-unit residential housing
  • Significant knowledge of how to undertake and manage a Master Planning initiative
  • Significant knowledge and understanding of the philosophies, principles and practices of strategic business planning, project management and risk management
  • Significant knowledge and understanding of the Commission’s mandate, programs, operating requirements, and strategic objectives, and the socio-political environment in which BC Housing operates
  • Ability to assess Branch requirements, think strategically and develop business plans and project/risk management strategies to achieve key priorities and objectives
  • Highly developed business and financial acumen, and ability to assess the financial and operational impacts and risks of new business opportunities
  • Ability to provide strategic advice, both internally and externally, regarding the planning, design and delivery of diverse social housing development projects
  • Ability to establish a high level of rapport with senior management, Executive, governments, social housing partners and other relevant stakeholders and funding partners
  • Ability to represent the Branch’s interests and priorities on inter-branch shared initiatives 
  • Ability to utilize judgment in presenting issues, and provide leadership, direction and influence in facilitating appropriate courses of action
  • Effective leadership, communication, presentation, conflict resolution, consensus building, and interpersonal skills
  • Highly effective analytical, strategic, critical thinking, and problem solving skills
