Location: Stratford Salary: $19-21/hour - 37.5 hrs/week plus benefits

Reporting to the Program Supervisor within a collaborative team environment, manages the volunteer program including recruitment, training, and supervision of volunteers to ensure effective provision of services to victims.

 

Volunteer Recruitment:

Ongoing recruitment initiatives to ensure adequate volunteers to meet service delivery needs:

  • Developing and implementing an ongoing volunteer recruitment strategy and public awareness/information campaign;
  • Screening/selecting volunteers using established screening/selection procedures;
  • Maintaining applicant profiles in the case management database and in office HR files

 

Volunteer Training:

Provides training in accordance with all Policies and Procedures and Ministry of the Attorney General Standards for Training:

  • Designing and delivering initial volunteer training that ensures the evaluation of crisis intervention skills, knowledge of victim issues and resources/referrals to assist in recovery;
  • Providing ongoing volunteer education and training through monthly meetings and additional professional development workshops;
  • Ensuring ongoing assessment of volunteer knowledge and skills and providing any upgrading necessary to ensure standardized service provision
  • Ensuring appropriate, effective and efficient service to clients/victims;
  • Ensuring program/service follow up with victims;

 

Volunteer Management:

Manages volunteers in accordance with all Policies and Procedures and Ministry of the Attorney General Standards:

  • Providing ongoing supervision, support, guidance, and discipline where appropriate;
  • Maintaining a comprehensive volunteer HR record in both the case management database and in office file documenting all forms, screening documents, agreements, training information, annual reviews, disciplinary actions, correspondence and exit interviews;
  • Leading by example, fostering and maintaining a respectful and supportive workplace;
  • Developing and implementing volunteer recognition programs and opportunities that acknowledge the value of the work done by volunteers and encourage the ongoing commitment to Victim Services.

 

Service Delivery:

Ensures effective and timely service response:

  • Provide input into the development of volunteer scheduling program;
  • Ensure volunteers utilization of the scheduling program;
  • Ensure volunteers are scheduled every shift;
  • Reviewing volunteer activity on a weekly and/or monthly basis to ensure ongoing commitment is being met and taking appropriate action;
  • Preparing volunteer engagement reports monthly and/or quarterly for the Program Supervisor;

 

Program Development:

Provides feedback and information to ensure the ongoing effectiveness of programs and services:

  • Participate in the development of an annual work plan to implement and enhance existing program/service deliverables and develop new program initiatives;
  • Reviewing and revising volunteer related policies/procedures;
  • Communicating changes in program/service delivery/mandate, in policy/procedures and/or community resources/partnerships;

 

Other:                                   

  • Acts as Shift Coordinator and back up on a rotating basis as required.
  • Participates on committees as required, both within and outside the organization.
