The organization

Development and Peace is one of the leading Canadian international development NGOs and the official international solidarity organization of the Canadian Catholic Church. With annual revenues of more than 40 million dollars, the organization supports local partners located in several countries of the Global South. With a network of members across Canada, Development and Peace raises the awareness of Canadians about the causes of worldwide poverty and injustice and mobilizes Canadians around actions for change.

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Director of the department, the Fundraising Development Officers are responsible for implementing and monitoring fundraising campaigns. They are also responsible for enhancing the organization's visibility and maintaining ongoing relationships with current and potential donors, including major donors and religious communities.

They must also work closely with the people who make up the different teams in the organization to impregnate their work with the organization's best practices and establish links to solicitation campaigns and events.

The philanthropic development staff is divided into three distinct positions: Major Gifts and Planned Giving, Direct Donations and Religious Communities.

Major gifts and planned giving

  3. Analyze and target donors likely to be interested in planned giving;
  4. Identify the different markets and adapt customized strategies to reach them and increase the number of programs for potential donors.

  1. Develop, plan and implement mass solicitation strategies including postal solicitation, email, online and social media, and the monthly donations program;
  2. In collaboration with the person in charge of data management, analyze the results of the different campaigns set up by the organization;
  3. Coordinate with the internal and external suppliers the production of the necessary materials for the different campaigns, including mailings and other items depending on the campaigns (content creation and graphic coordination);
  4. Regularly monitor existing practices and the latest developments in philanthropic development.

Religious Communities

  1. Follow up with religious communities sympathetic to Development and Peace and their representatives;
  2. Work closely with the facilitators (field monitoring) for the development and application of communication strategies;
  3. Develop and update communication strategies for religious communities;
