POSITION:  

Coordinator of Men in Change

 

PROGRAM:

Specialized Programs – Counselling and Youth Programs

 

DEPARTMENT:

Family and Settlement Services

 

POSITION FUNCTION:

Under the supervision of the Manager of Counselling and Youth Programs, the Coordinator is responsible for the development, implementation, and administration of the Men in Change Program – a program that focuses on preventing the occurrence or recurrence of family violence through supporting men to take responsibility for their actions and work toward changing their behavior.

 

The Coordinator’s primary duties include: providing counselling support and psychoeducation; engaging in outreach and working collaboratively with other service providers; supporting contracted facilitators; coordinating day-to-day program operations; and completing administrative duties.  The Coordinator works collaboratively through an Integrated Services Approach with MOSAIC’s Family and Settlement Services, as well as with other MOSAIC services staff. 

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

·      3 to 4 years of counselling experience in counselling, group facilitation, program coordination, working collaboratively with community partners, working with people of diverse backgrounds

·      Have training or a degree in Social Work, Counselling or a related field

·      Must be knowledgeable about: counselling theory and practice; violence prevention; dynamics of gender-based violence; trauma informed practice; issues impacting immigrant, refugee and visible minority populations

·      Must be knowledgeable about: social work services in Greater Vancouver; community resources and programs

·      Excellent counselling and group facilitation skills

·      Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

·      Strong skills in organizing and time management

·      Have high degree of self-awareness and commitment of self-care

·      Ability to speak, read and write in fluent English

·      Ability to work with a team and work sensitively between cultures

·      Ability to work independently and with flexibility

 

DESIRABLE SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:

·      Experience working with men in the area of family violence prevention

·      Access to a vehicle

·      Additional languages an asset, particularly Punjabi and Hindi

 

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

·      Current and satisfactory Criminal Record Check

 

HOURS:

28 hours/week including some evening/weekend hours

 

A competitive benefits package is provided with contracts of at least one year in length which offer a minimum of 17.5 hours of work per week.

 

 STARTING PAY:

$24.77-$27.88/hour, depending on qualifications and experience
