About the Opportunity


Job Coaches are people who specialize in assisting individuals with disabilities to learn and accurately carry out job duties. They provide one on one training tailored to the needs of the employee while acting as a consultant to the employer and their staff.  Job coaches help support individuals to become proficient and independent in their job duties.


As a Job Coach with the Employment Development Service you will work closely with the Employment Development Coordinators in Abbotsford (75%) and Burnaby (25%). Duties will include assisting applicants in successfully learning and maintaining their new job, thinking outside of the box, being creative with teaching techniques and fade out procedures. In this role you will also be responsible for ongoing administration regarding the applicant/employee, employer and the Employment Development Service.


Additionally you will be responsible for training of advocacy, disabilities awareness building, job adaptations, social support, problem solving, and the development of natural supports.


About You


Additionally, the ideal candidate will have the following skills:

  • Teaching, guiding and coaching skills
  • Computer and social media skills
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Adaptability
  • Some knowledge of supporting individuals with developmental disabilities
  • Class 5 Driver’s License
  • Ability to network
  • Knowledge of the business sector
  • Related work experience, or post-secondary education in the areas of support worker training or lifeskills instruction is ideal

External Wage: $19.75/hr; Internal wage: Base Rate + $1.00
