Position / Poste: ASSISTIVE DEVICES COUNSELLOR (Full-time, 3 month contract)
Summary / Sommaire: 
The Assistive Devices Counsellor (ADC) provides customer service and system navigation to consumers in order to assist them with the purchase and delivery of appropriate assistive devices.  
The Assistive Devices Counsellor position is a full-time, 3 month contract. The start date would be October 22, 2018 and the end date would be December 28, 2018.
Duties / Fonctions:
Caseload Management:
  • Determine consumer eligibility 
  • Review equipment requests/quotations and supporting documentation
  • Funding decisions are made in accordance with established standards
  • Ensuring monthly consumer, device and spending targets are achieved
  • All information and financial systems updated accurately, within time lines
  • Communication and Documentation:
  • All consumer interactions are followed up with appropriate letters, documentation, case noting and data inputting
  • All information and financial systems updated accurately
  • Regular communication with health care professionals and vendors to ensure appropriate equipment is assessed & prescribed
Budget Ownership & Accountability:
  • Reviews budget targets and enters data accurately. 
  • Month-end & reconciliation are completed 
  • Purchase Orders are created in accordance with established procedures 
Maximize Granting:
  • Review all quotations to ensure appropriate, eligible equipment is ordered through vendors at best possible price
  • Obtain the maximum amount of reimbursements, co-funding and grants available from various levels of government, other voluntary agencies, insurance companies, service clubs, consumers and foundation requests etc
Community Relations:
  • Establish service networks and maintain effective working relationships with vendors, businesses, government, service clubs, non-profit organizations, foundations
  • Generate program applications, through marketing and development of relationships with community referral sources such as O.T.’s and other health care professionals
  • Submit consumer stories to further enhance community support for our Assistive Devices Program and promote further funding support to the program
  • Attend Information fairs and community presentations as required
Qualifications / Compétences requises:
  • Post-Secondary education in Social Services, Health Care Administration, Disability Management
  • Minimum two years of administrative experience in Social Services, Health Care or related field
  • Experience and comfort using Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point
  • Demonstrates professional, consumer-focused behaviour
  • Works effectively with, and demonstrates respect for, others
  • Ability to communicate positively and effectively both in verbal and written form
  • Excellent command of English grammar
  • Demonstrated flexibility to changing demands of the job and multiple tasks and deadlines; results-oriented
  • Self-motivated to achieve results
  • Masters own routines effectively and keeps current on overall activities of the department / program
  • Good organizational and planning skills
  • Quality-oriented in all work produced and services provided
  • Attention to detail and accuracy
  • Demonstrated ability to problem-solve, make recommendations, and take action based on best available information and input from others 
  • An effective team player
  • Demonstrates willingness and ability to accept and apply new methods and techniques to performance of work 
  • French an asset
